viewsonic
My Pioneer Avic Z2 has started giving an issue with its hard drive. Whenever I start my car, it appears on the screen that ?Cannot use hdd?. I took out the hard drive, and got it checked by a computer specialist and I was told by him that the drive has been physically damaged. Therefore it isnt readable any more. In this case, I bought two new hard drives (Toshiba 60 GB and Fitjistu 40 GB), inserted them in my pioneer Z2 system and the navigation system gave the same message ?cannot use hdd?. It happened with bought new drives. Not even that, but they got locked out and now are not even usable inn my notebook. I would have sent the Avic Z2 to Pioneer warehouse, if I was in USA. But unfortunately I don?t live in USA anymore and in Pakistan I?m not able to find any pioneer dealer who could possibly help me with such a problem. Anyone out there can resolve this issue and let me know the details of such errors with my Avic Z2??

viewsonic
I went through the link you provided. I already read that and did the following: Using that I unlocked the Toshiba 40 GB HDD, and it got locked again in the Z2. My earlier question was that, where will I be able to find the software, which will make my z2 work out. As of now my original drive has been damaged and I’ve no back up against it. It'll be highly appreciated if you can make the Z 2 work out... anyhelp out there.......?
viewsonic
Alright here’s my situation. As you know my Avic Z2 hard drive crashed and started giving an error message of “cannot use HDD”. I took one of my notebook pulled it’s Toshiba hard drive 40 GB out, and plugged it into me pioneer Z2. It got locked straight away. I did the ATT unlock as per forums and worked out fine with unlocking the hardf drive, but wasn’t able to disable the security from MHDD magic disk. Somehow it wasn’t able to go through. Now inserted my Toshiba HD 40 GB in to the Z2, got locked out again. Now I’m stuck here, don’t know what to do. I’ve did a research all over the forums but no help so far. I want few things to know first. 1. Can someone provide me with the backup software of Avic z2 HDD? 2. If I just get a new HDD and install the backup software, will it “plug n play” in my avic z2? I only want my Aviz 2 to work, don’t really care about a navi, as it doesn’t even works in Pakistan. Anyone out there can help me out in this situation? The last thing ive noticed is that my Avic z2 doesn't even detect a hard drive from the setup menu, where it says HDD test, where as it does works in my PC.The last thing ive noticed is that my Avic z2 doesn't even detects a hard drive from the setup menue, where it says HDD test. garrettoomey
1. Z2 software does not appear to be available online anymore, but Z3 software will work. You can get it using bittorrent. 2. Yes, it will plug and play if you get the software image on your drive. The Z will not recognize your drive unless it has the software image. the image is over 9gb.
viewsonic
Hey thanks for all the help garrettoomey. As you advised to download the avice z3 image using bitorrent, Therefore it’ll be highly appreciated, if you’ll be able to "seed" the AVICZ3Image on bitorrent. Thank You. garrettoomey
Seeding now...
viewsonic
Thanks for seeding.. In the mean while, I had few questions regarding imaging. Once the download has been completed, what’s the next step? Do I need to image all 14 .tib files using Acronis at once or is there some procedure in imaging. I'm a little confused about imaging the .tib 14 files into my hard drive, as you know that it's a new HD and doesn't have any Z1 or Z2 image. Therefore I wanted to know that do I need to make any partitions and follow a specific procedure. Please guide. Thanks for all the help so far...... P.s " Just wanted a confirmation from you; using Magic Boot Disk v2.0 and disabling the security using MHDD command, config, my avic z2 wont lock the Hard drive" Correct? viewsonic
Hey garrettoomey, Thanks for all the help. I finally downloaded the 9.47 G.B (14 .tib files). Imaged all the 14 .tib files into my Toshiba HD, using Acronis True Image and did a "Plug n play". Now my Avic Z2 has started working again, with the new Z 3 software. Well thanks a lot, once again for all the help you provided and it did work out for me. Really appreciate it. I've started seeding and will be doing so for the next one week. P.s (By connecting the HD to the notebook, is it possible to copy all the CD audio contents to the HD? Instead of waiting for the Z3 to do it on its own)
garrettoomey
You can not copy your CD's from computer directly to the hdd You will have to load them the hard way, one at a time.
