steering wheel control interface

Recommended Posts

i found this with interest -- its a device that goes in between your stock steering wheel (audio controls) and your new Pioneer head unit. you can then assign the wheel's buttons to the supported actions in the unit (volume up/down, track +/-, source, etc).

has anyone used one w/ the AVIC products? did it work well for you?

...only 40 bucks.

thanks!

reading the amazon reviews there is a guy who uses it for his AVIC-F700BT, so id guess that means itll work on a 310BT...but neither is listed on the manufacturer's product page - "others may be compatible, but not listed"):

from the reviews the reliability is uncertain.

There are loads of post on here about that interface. Use the search feature of this forum.

really? then how come when i search this very forum, it returns:

No posts were found because the word swi-ps is not contained in any post.

...SWI-PS is the name of the unit. i dont seem any posts referencing it.

i use the swi-ps with the avic-f310bt works perfect..

perfect! thanks.

the only other question is one im posing to the scion forums.. my 2005 xB's steering wheel doesnt have audio controls, but the 2006 does. one can buy a replacement 2006 steering wheel (w/ audio controls); so im going to see if its possible to route those into the SWI-PS, and voila -- steering wheel controls on an '05.

the swi-ps can interace to any anloge button system...

I just replaced mine none button steering wheel, with one that has audio buttons (alfa 147).

i had to replace the:

- steering wheel - duhhh

- clockspring - more wires going thru it.

- solder the not matching connector on the car side to the wider conector on the clockspring

- place wires from the button pins from the clockspring to the swi-ps

goood luck ,

arnold
