avic n1 ipod/iphone problem!!

Recommended Posts

ok so a couple of months ago i had purchased a avic n1 for a pretty decent price. The guy who had sold it to me was a real cool dude and gave me all the pieces he had, including an extra ipod part that had the wire and everything. Well when i got it installed, i didnt install that part, and decided to the way i was going to listen to music off my iphone was to use av to 3mm headphone jack wire. It worked great and i could charge it through the cigarrete lighter. However it got annoying how i had to control it from the phone and not the stereo. i got the wire that originally came put in, however when two problems arised

1. the iphone will play from the wire BUT not charge

2. ITs HORRIBLE to play from the stereo becasue theres a really UGLY interface and not the cool one i saw on other avics! what the hell, its so simplistic and stupid. However playing it through the wire sounded much better. i payed for the newest map cd hopeing it would upgrade it, but theres still that ugly screen! can anyone help me??? is there no ipod interface for the n1??

The hardware on the N1 will not support the new IPOD interfaces. It is a hardware issue, not a software upgrade on the map discs. I had an N1 as well and sent it in to this mod shop on ebay to upgrade the hardware to an N3 with upgraded XM and IPOD interface. Its worked great for 2 years now with no issues. The IPOD interface has total ipod control, but is not as user friendly as the N4 and above. Here is the site I purchased the mod from.
