bestthereis27
Hey Guys I was wondering how much better the z1 was compared to the d2. There is a big price difference between the two, and I wanted to know if paying extra for the z1 is worth it. I don't really need the bluetooth adaptor. Many for Navigation, and hooking up my IPOD. They are just like night and day. Here are a few: -Better LCD in Z1 -Faster NAV in Z1 thanks for the built-in HDD -Bigger screen -10GB to store your music -Bluetooth in Z1 -Voice command in Z1 -Made in Japan for Z1 -Play DVD video in Z1 Is that enough for you to make decision? sportsfan21
Can't forget that the Z1 has better iPod control. It's still pretty slow, but its MUCH better than the D2s. The Z1 also has text to speech technology. Meaning it will say "Turn right onto Main St in 1/4 of a mile". The D2 will say "Right turn in 1/4 of a mile." I have the D2 and the Garmin Nuvi. The Nuvi has the TTS, and the D2 doesn't, and there have been times when I take the Nuvi with me even when I'm driving with the D2 in the car because TTS makes it THAT much better. cntrylvr79
Here's my take on that list. They are just like night and day. Here are a few: -Better LCD in Z1 Not really, just bigger -Faster NAV in Z1 thanks for the built-in HDD Only slightly. We're talking about maybe a second or so faster calculating routes -Bigger screen So what -10GB to store your music Don't need that -Bluetooth in Z1 Have you read any of the posts about how "great" the pioneer bt interface is? -Voice command in Z1 Useless if you have any kind of accent or drive with the windows down. -Made in Japan for Z1 And this means what? So is almost every other piece of pioneer equipment -Play DVD video in Z1 Yeah that doesn't bother me. That's why there's a ps2 in my glove box. Now I can play videogames too. That's my take on the benefits of the z1. Me I'm perfectly happy with my d1 and all of it's little quirks.
ducatiboy
They are just like night and day. Here are a few:-Better LCD in Z1 Not really, just bigger And bigger is BETTER. Any girl who tells you different it just trying to make you fill better about your small "inadequacy". -Faster NAV in Z1 thanks for the built-in HDD Only slightly. We're talking about maybe a second or so faster calculating routes A second is all that might stand between you and Taco Bell! I'll take every second I can get. -Bigger screen So what See comment #1 -10GB to store your music Don't need that Personally I love this feature. If all you have are MP3's you ripped from somewhere, not a big deal. Or if you have a lot of music published in the last 5 months. But if you have a large CD collection, it's nice having a voice searchable music selection with no input into the thing at all. Just 50 or so of my favorite CD's (all I put in there so far). -Bluetooth in Z1 Have you read any of the posts about how "great" the pioneer bt interface is? There is a fix from pioneer (reported). If it's really true it will come out sooner or later. As it is, it's usable, not the best, but usable. -Voice command in Z1 Useless if you have any kind of accent or drive with the windows down. Yes, you can't sound like Borat or have the windows open. But if you have a decently quiet car, I think it picks up stuff rather well. Not perfect, but it picks up my songs from my library pretty well. The nav controls are a little more difficult, but not too bad. -Made in Japan for Z1 And this means what? So is almost every other piece of pioneer equipment "What are you talkin' about, Doc? All the best stuff's made in Japan..." (BTTF, Michael J Fox) -Play DVD video in Z1 Yeah that doesn't bother me. That's why there's a ps2 in my glove box. Now I can play videogames too. Yah, but you can control the DVD right from the controls on the screen, great for my daughter who is in the back and is only 3. So I have a movie controlled by me but she watches the screen on the rear monitor. I think that set up is much nicer than having an external DVD player (even if it is a PS2. But I would love to play GTA3 while actually doing GTA3 things in real life! That's my take on the benefits of the z1. Me I'm perfectly happy with my d1 and all of it's little quirks. There is nothing wrong with the d1 or the d2 for that matter. But I personally like the new features in the Z1. But that's just me.

The post doesn't ask anything about comments on your lil D1....... Get a life, or at least some updated technology
ducatiboy
What's this guy's problem? The post doesn't ask anything about comments on your lil D1....... Get a life, or at least some updated technology Sounds like cntrylvr79 might be overcompensating for some Z1 envy. And he is trying to topple my post count. He is almost there too. Actually all the D and Z units are similar and they are all good units. I guess it's if you want to pay the premium for the newer unit with the newer features. If I had a D1 or 2, I probably wouldn't be clamoring to get a Z1. But if I didn't have anything, I would (and did) spend the extra for the Z1.
cntrylvr79
I was wondering how much better the z1 was compared to the d2. I think he was asking for opinions of the d1/2 verus the z1. No z1 envy. I was just stating my opinion. Just like everyone else here is entitled to their opinion I am too. So Lil Red you can get a life. Ducati I really didn't care much about the post count. Like I said just my opinion that's all. If I really wanted the features the z1 has I would have jst dropped my carpc in instead of getting a d1. we now return you to your regularly scheduled posts. cntrylvr79
You as well. If it weren't for your electrical magic there'd be a lot of people flashing their lights. Oh and we can't forget about the bald installers from trying to get a tr7 programmed right to do the light flash. Sides I do have a small advantage most of the questions asked here are based on what I do for a living so of course I have a lot to say. Then theres the access to 3 or 4 wiring databases at work. That alone proabably accounts for half of my posts. And finally we have the obvious. I am a post whore. Hurray Me!!!!
