Extent of CD-R55 Remote Controls

Recommended Posts

I have an AVIC-N3 and awhile ago I bought an CD-R55 remote. I thought the CD-R55 would have been helpful since there are so many features on the AVIC-N3, but from so far, it appears as if the extent that the CD-R55 can control the AVIC-N3 is peculiarly limited.

For DVD, the controls are pretty complete, as well as with controlling AM/FM and even the XM Tuner, however, there seems to be practically Zero control over the ipod interface on the N3, and this is something I would really like since the Ipod interface on the N3 is pretty bad. The only control I seem to have is going to the next song or previous song. I have a 160GB ipod classic with loads of music and scrolling through hundreds of playlists (especially with the N3's crappy touch sensitivity) is a pain, but the CD-R55 as far as I can tell has no control other than the limited function just mentioned. Anyone have a different experience?

Also, the CD-R55 seems to have some control over the audio setup, but again, unexpected limited. For example, pushing the center button in the middle will bring me to the audio set up screen with the 3 options, but that is it. I'd really like to adjust my audio settings from the remote but this seems like a no go - again anyone know a way to get further functionality out of it?

Thanks.

That remote was released well after the N3 and is not intended to fully support an older unit. Also there is no remote that will give you any more control over the ipod interface then what you are already getting, regardless of what unit you have.
