So I called up their support line and go put to their tech support guys after 1/2hour on hold. Within 5 minutes the tech had my name and address and sent out a burnt copy of an update disk with a magical fix for the Aussie headunit. It was sent across state via express mail (melb > syd) and arrived the next day. Put it in and followed the bodgy instructions within the A3 (wtf) page, done all fixed!
I am posting this up for anyone else also witnessing this issue in Australia so they do not go through all the shiz I did and just get this thing fixed. Also I can upload the FW on request and email it to whoever needs it just shoot me a PM
