FX3.1 Complete Firmware Image

Recommended Posts

Anyone have a rear view camera installed to their unit with this version? I've installed my unit with the camera all together and the unit wont switch automatically to rear view when I put it in reverse...

I did a multimeter test on the reverse wire and I'm getting 14.XX juice when in reverse so it's getting a signal and everything is connected right, but it just wont switch. Also, I'm getting an image when I manually input the rear camera in the AV section and I get a constant rear view image when the settings is set to ON and GND on the system settings/ rear camera

Can anyone confirm if their camera works on this firmware update?

Change the polarity of the camera within SYSTEM or A/V settings ...

Hi, thanks for the reply. I tried changing the polarity manually on the system settings, rear camera, from On-PWR to On-GRN. After I did that, everytime I turn the car on it would automatically turn on the rear view camera and it stays on, regardless on what gear I'm in. I have to do the hold map or menu button a few seconds to bounce me back into the settings or else no matter what I touch, the rear view cam screen stays on.

This is the latest and greatest. You will not see a 4.0 upgrade to the F series as it is discontinued and has reached it's end of life for Pioneer.   You will love the 3.1 upgrade.

Did it work correctly before FX 3.1, say with the stock software and OS?

I see that nobody answered dvine1. Can someone take a stab at it? The reason I ask is my F-90BT stopped working out of nowhere with the Pioneer 3.0 installed and after trying to reinstall the Pioneer 3.0 software again I am getting this exact problem. I am going to try the 3.1 but my question is will it solve this? Thanks in advance for some to help out on this.

I followed the instructions that you have for this install, but when I get to step 5 and reset, nothing happens. My unit just comes back up with the splash screen; I can get to the "top menu" but then nothing responds. I hit "settings" and go to system info and it shows version 2.06 and for map version, it says "no maps loaded" When I try to get into testmode (with another sd card that has the testmode files), it gives me a 'windows-like' screen that looks like it's copying something then the system goes blank. I don't have a clue what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just an update.

Installed Retell's files and all went well until the it rebooted for the last time. I got the dreaded "Caution: Image screen may appear reversed". Well the screen could still be touched with a audible response and I just started touching random places. Well it ended up doing a language quick boot into Spanish but at least I got the damn screen to show. Changed the language back to English and all is well. I have not tested it completely out but the phone at least syncs. Report back after a couple of days of use.

In fact I didn't try it with the regular factory OS.

If I download the OS from Pioneer from their website into my SD card and install it, will it overwrite everything or only certain component?

Would Pioneer have a problem with working on it if I send it out for repairs? I know it won't be on warranty but it's only $80 to get it serviced.

Im not sure if it works for everyone but for me, when it happens (Turn on the car and the rear camera comes on automatically ...or a black screen with the message) I usually hold the map or menu for a few seconds. it will switch to the deck brightness control, just hit the menu button again and you'll be able to see the 3 icons and from there, go to settings, system setting, rear camera, and then change the polarity to PWR or simply turn it off if you don't have a rear view cam.

That should fix your problem

Thanks for the tip.

Now that I have had some time with this all I am going to say is WOW!.

Everything works as it should have with the 3.0 update (sarcasm on: Thanks Pioneer).

I had a very buggy system before and now it all works. Retell you need some compensation for your time and saving me some frustration.

I installed the 3.1 update just fine, along with Abb's v3 mods. Now when I attempt to make/receive a phone call the unit partially freezes giving me an error about the "Tel" file. Testmode also won't work, it keeps getting stuck in a "bootloop" of sorts. I've tried several different types of testmode.

My question is, can I use these instructions:

1. Insert SD card into AVIC and turn it on.

2. When the pioneer logo comes up, press and hold the menu, map, eject and the reset buttons at the same time. When your screen goes completely blank, let go of the reset button but continue to hold menu, map, and eject buttons. This will bring you to a blue screen, telling you to reset the unit (ignore this), you will have to enter the service combination. Press the volume knob in this sequence and you will see * signs for each push: Up, Up, Down, Menu, Left, Right.

3. Select Wince Upgrade

4. Select Update SD Format

5. Wait until it says restart in the bottom center. Reset the unit and leave the SD card in.

6. You should be greeted with testmode (It will look very similar to normal windows). Open Explorer and copy the contents of the "My Flash Drive" Folder from the SD card to the "My Flash Drive" that is located on the unit. Overwrite everything. (It will the copying will take 140min but will only take about 20)

7. Press and hold reset for 5 seconds.

8. Select your language and voice options.

9. Enjoy FX3.1

to boot into testmode and try to replace the damaged file?

I do not get it. I am another that is having a difficult time with this. Whenever I start the process, the multi colored blue screen appears for a bit. Then it goes right into the WinCE OS screen. So I attempt to start from that point. I do everything as said. It is very difficult to touch the screen to select stuff on the desktop. I cannot even select the "Start" button. Before overwriting the contents of "My Flash Drive", I get a screen that says the contents will not fit. So I take out a few maps...Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico. Still to big. I say screw it and overwrite what I can. I then Press and hold reset for 5 seconds. I am then met with the damn WinCE OS again. What gives? I have the AVIC f900BT.

I noticed there are some F500 owners able to do this mod. Could you please indicate your service combination keys to allow access to the WinCE update menu? I tried the one posted in this thread UP, UP, DOWN, MENU, LEFT then RIGHT but was unsuccessful over and over again.

Please post if you use a different combination. Or PM me.

Thanks

Hey there guys, newbie registered but ive been doing a fair bit of reading before I registered....just have a question or 2

Im in Australia, just bought a US model F700bt.

I plan on using the FX3.1 firmware on it just want to confirm that it will work properly, along with the Australian map updates found on here

(V3Update03 parts 1 and 2 files...I've downloaded all the files i need, along with the Update02b files for the skin.....havent installed them yet because i wanted to confirm that I had everything i needed to get this underway)

and that i just follow the instructions and copy over 3.1 files, use the autoinstaller for the maps v3update03 files and then copy over the update02b files

and that this will give me 3.1 firmware, with the Australian maps and updated skin etc.

do i need to download the speedcamera or poi update files as well or will the above do it?

I know questions like this have been asked, but just wanted to confirm for my situation! thanks heaps

Just wanted to drop a quick thank you to Retell for this post and the torrent. I had made a real mess of my system "trying to fix it" the other day when it decided to get stuck at the startup screen. The firmware update from Pioneer just caused the system to constantly reboot and then when I got creative things went downhill in a hurry.

Luckily this post has a valid torrent associated with it and all the files I needed to completely restore my headunit!

OK after some digging around in all these threads with weird headings, I was able to find the service combination for F500BT unit.

I found it in this thread. http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=27581&start=60#p206891.

MAP, MAP, MENU, ENTER (Press down on the joystick), MENU then ENTER.

Here is the other helpful item from that thread. You can only use the RESET button in this service menu.

So to move from option to option, you press RESET quickly one by one. To select, you hold down RESET for 1/2 second or so.

When it ask for you to reset, hold both RESET and POWER for a few seconds until it reset.

I was able to flash the new WinCE and copy over the My Flash Disk from OP. Everything seems to be working so far.

Good luck.

Update!!

Now that I had a chance to fully tested, there is no guidance voice on the F500BT like the two previous F500BT users posted on this thread. I noticed something was weird when the sound volume is really low.

I guess the hacked EZRIDER in this rar file is not fully compatible with F500BT. Guess back to the drawing board.

SUCCESS!! WOWEEEE!! Everything is a success! I found the issue and fix the audio issue.

Please following this instruction for the F500BT model. I was very successful.

You need only a single SD card, at least 2GB in size. Copy the entire contents of the RAR file except for the WINCEIMG.BIN and WINCEIMG.CKS to the root of SD card. For the two WINCE*.* files, I had to use the one I download from this link. http://www.rapidshare.ru/1206567

The one that came with the FX3.1 would not allow me to boot after I flash WinCE>

You will need to go to the folder APL2\iGo\ and delete the current sys.txt and rename sys_749UC.txt to sys.txt.

You can delete the other sys_*****.txt files and any maps that you may not use. You may need to do this because the F500BT may not the capacity for all the new maps.

1. Insert SD card (minimum 2GB) with testmode into AVIC and turn it on.

2. Backup My Flash Disk by copying

3. When the pioneer logo comes up, press and hold the power and reset buttons at the same time until the blue service screen comes up then release power and reset buttons. (you should see Press reset again to reset but don't press reset yet)

4. Press in this order MAP, MAP, MENU, ENTER (down on joystick), MENU then ENTER. (each button press will show an asterisk at the bottom center of the screen). If the correct combination is pressed, then a menu with options pops up.

5. Select Wince Upgrade with Format (SD)

6. At the bottom center will first display the status of reading in the file. It then will clear the message and will show the status of writing the file. Then it will do a quick test. Wait until it says restart in the bottom center. Reset the unit and leave the SD card in (remember to reset you have to press and hold both power and reset buttons.)

8. On the desktop should be an icon to RESTART the unit. Double click on that to restart, make sure you take out the SD card so normal boot process happens.

8. Select your language and voice options.

9. Enjoy FX3.1 :)

A special bonus, I was able to download the latest 2010 maps from here http://gpsunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?2688-iGo-8.0-and-8.3-Navteq-And-Teleatlas-Map-Download-Index.-All-here./page25 into the F500BT without any issue. You will need to delete the older maps and just copy the MAPS, POI and BUILDINGS to the respected folder under /APL2/iGO/CONTENT

Really GOOD Luck now and enjoy to those able to succeed.

So i ended up hooking up my US model f700bt to my computer power source to do all the updates while i waited for my wiring harness to arrive. its now cleanly installed in my subaru forester, with the FX3.1 on it, software and hardware bypass (coz i didnt know i had the software one on their!) and the australian v17 maps. I also have the CD-IU230 running under the handbrake compartment to a small pocket near the centre console with a little stand mounted in it to dock my ipod in.

The unit is also running a Rockford Fosgate Punch 360 amp bridged to power my MTX thunder4500 in the back. Balanced all the sound and finished cleaning up the install today and am so beyond impressed! soooo happy :D
