VBLUE42
Just to nip this in the bud before it gets started. The Z110/120BT runs completely different software then the previous X series. It will not run testmode and will not work with any software mods that are on this forum. There will be no hacks for this unit in the foreseeable future. If that ever changes it will be posted and stickied on this forum but likely will never happen. MOD NOTE 11-24-2010: Recently a testmode file has materialized that does work on the 920/120BT units that will allow access to the file system of the unit. Unfortunately that is all this file does at this time. It does not offer a way to hack or mod any of the software in these units what so ever and there are no changes expected in the foreseeable future. If there are this thread will be updated. What that means is no UI hacks or mods, no software bypass, and no additional map or map upgrades are currently possible. Please do not apply the mentality that this will give you the same capabilities of the previous X and F series units.
bmw325ist
Way to be a Debbie downer. Isn't this the reason why we're all here? Let's do something about it. If someone just said "well pioneer said we couldn't do it , so let's give up," we wouldn't have hacks to start with. What chip(s) does the z run on. Anyone flashed the memory and extracted a prog? We programmers can do anything right haha. This is a pep talk lol. Someone give me some good threads to read and some direction and ill throw some coin at it.
VBLUE42
Well if you hadn't just arrived here you would know we have been looking into this for over a year now. I just posted this because we seem to be getting a lot of new members coming in do to the 120 upgrade and I don't want to see a hundred threads asking the same question over again. Good luck to you however.
JasonH
There IS a testmode, we just don't know how to access it. I doubt Pioneer is going to screw up again and leave it on the update download. lol
VBLUE42
Yea this was just to convey that the Testmode everybody knows about wont work with these units. This thread was created in the hopes this will reduce the amount of redundant post asking the same question over again. I think it is clear Pioneer wont make that same mistake again. dawgbone
When I get my update card.... I'll first connect my laptop via BT, and watch the 2 folders during the update.... I know I'm talking sheet.... But it's worth watching to at most, try to find a hole.... those folders have to be there for something... Kinda hoping for something like the IPhone hacks, where restoring via ITunes.... you can watch a certain folder, and get it's ECID.... which seems to be the ticket as far as JailBreaking goes... Again... far above my head.... but if there is a chance...
VBLUE42
Interesting enough, the DNX9960 has the exact same two folders.
urtruelove78
Interesting enough, the DNX9960 has the exact same two folders. Probably time to un-sticky this one
VBLUE42
No. Its still not compatible with testmode. As long as people will eventually ask, this thread will stay at the top.
methman
Hey VBLUE I'm assuming that the test mode this thread is about is different from the test mode in the service manual? Just wondering because it seems easy to get into the test mode in the service manual. No cockyness intended. :' )
VBLUE42
This is in reference to the testmode files everyone here is familar with that allowed hacks and mods on the previous units.
Dave88LX
I think it's absolutely stupid you can not, from what I am told, play a video or enter in an address while the car is in motion. Have these people never heard of a passenger? I know I'm preaching to the choir, but, it's just dumb.
Alexei Navalny
I think it's absolutely stupid you can not, from what I am told, play a video or enter in an address while the car is in motion. Have these people never heard of a passenger? I know I'm preaching to the choir, but, it's just dumb. Then change it so you can. You posted this in the hack/mods sub-forum, so I assume you know how to do the bypass. Why the venting? Fix it!!
