JohnnyDepp
Didn't miss anything lol. The Venetian network was brought down and then when everyone went to 3G, it crashed as well. Give me like a half hour to get to a working connection and I'll upload the pics and info from the press conference. Whew...you scared us there, dude!

"...Yes, Aha Radio will be available on the 2010 AVIC-X920BT, the AVIC-Z120BT and 2009 AVIC-Z110BT via an additional map and software upgrade coming when the new 2011 models ship later this year. We'll keep you posted...."
JasonH
Ok, so you guys with functioning internet connections beat me to the press releases...lol So some first hand pics, and a quick demo video of the aha service is being uploaded as I type this. Some interesting info: The Z130 has a new built in ClearChannel Traffic receiver, a free service (forever). The X930 has the traffic tuner as an option, also a free service. The traffic receivers are NOT backwards compatible with older units (Z120 included). The Z110/Z120 will however get a software upgrade to add the aha service.
jedikd
Nice thanks for the info. I wonder if the hardware itself has upgraded from the previous years? Or is it just software? Also how much of the software has been upgraded to improve the user interface?

rgarjr
Does that mean that the Z110/120 users are out if luck with the traffic?

JohnnyDepp
Does that mean that the Z110/120 users are out if luck with the traffic? Read the rest of the thread....we just got word from Pioneer that the new AHa capability (which includes traffic, I think?) WILL be made available to Z120 and X920 users with a firmware update this year. Some guy bugged them about it on their Facebook page... JasonH is reporting that the built-in traffic tuner on the new Z picks up ClearChannel traffic. Not clear on whether this is an alternative to the AHa-provided traffic, or if it will also be in the new X. Also, not clear to what extend the new traffic options will be integrated into the navigation and map. Hopefully JasonH (aka user's Avic god?) will determine this tomorrow hands-on. By the way, check out the new units on their website. Detachable faceplate in the new X! Built-in HD tuner in the new Z! Holy crap...they're moving forward...

Also how much of the software has been upgraded to improve the user interface? The main hardware change is the new tuner (allowing ClearChannel traffic) as well as a new faceplate. I'm not sure what else has changed at this point. I'll be able to answer these questions better tomorrow when I get to play with them.
jedikd
BTW, Aha Radio app is already available in the itunes store if you want to play around with it.
JasonH
Does that mean that the Z110/120 users are out if luck with the traffic? Yes, they will not get the new ClearChannel on-map traffic. They will however get the Aha traffic, which is a totally different animal.

Holy crap...they're moving forward... We need to be clear here. There are TWO different traffic sources; The on-map ClearChannel and Text To Speech Aha. The Aha will work on any of the older units once the software update is released. The ClearChannel is ONLY on the new Z130 and X930.
