Melophat
so, I know that the 930 doesn't come with vr like the 920 does... but i also know that the 920 can be updated to the 930 s/w and still retain vr. I dont see any way that the vr would be tied to the hardware, so it's got to just be a software difference.. is it possible to get the firmware from an updated 920 and install it on a 930 and have vr enabled then? if this question sounds stupid, i apologize, i'm new to stereo modding and the 930 is my first touchscreen/nav stereo. I am a computer programmer and most electronics/software/hacking concepts come pretty naturally to me, and i'm very interested in getting into this, so please don't spare the technical details as to why this wouldn't be possible or how to go about doing it if it might be possible.. Thanks!! Josh
JasonH
X930 is missing the VR hardware, simple as that.
Melophat
X930 is missing the VR hardware, simple as that. not that i dont believe you, but what hardware? we've got a mic input, i can't think of any other hardware that would be needed for it.. i can see software that would be needed, but not hardware. JasonH
I would assume there's a chip on the board that handles VR. I don't build or take them apart so I can't personally guarantee it, but I've talked to pioneer engineers who have said the software is identical, it's simply missing the hardware:
