New SiriusXM Lineup Coming May 2011...guys?

Recommended Posts

Likely not.

They won't...they never have before. I've starting on the next logo update and will try to get it out by the end of the week.

I still need a copy of the updated XMCAT and XMDAT directories from the latest D series CD-ROM so that I can fix the problem with incorrect categories on that series unit. If someone has copy of these please send them to me.

Well there wouldn't have been before a couple of days ago sense there were no hacks for the 110/130 series. Although that has all changed now I wouldn't expect this problem to be addressed anytime soon as this hack process is in its infancy.

What about the z110-130 series is there a solution for them?

That's the new model I presume...is the hard drive accessable like old Z series and does is use the same logo system? If so I will need someone to send me the contents of the XMDAT and XMCAT subdirectories.

My numbers all changed themselves. Even my presets didn't need any updating. My stations and logos are all still the same, only the number is now different. I don't know why, but I had to do nothing. This is with my AVIC unit. In the house I had to manually change and reset my presets on my Yamaha receiver (with xm built in, but it doesn't show logos).

Here is where I'm at right now:

- I have all the new logos extracted from the new channel guide PDF in high quality in the 5 sizes needed for the D/N/F/Z series. I can't do anything about the new Zxxx series until someone can get me a copy of the XMDAT, XMCAT, XMLPS, XMDPS directories from that unit. Assuming they didn't redo the whole logo system.

- Now that the update has happened I am finally able to see the changes. There are nearly 2 dozen name changes to existing channels, those were prety easy to address last night.

- There are 20 or so channels whose station ID isn't yet identified, plus several of the sports channel IDs have re-arranged. The traffic/weather IDs were scrambled around (Station ID's are the permanent hidden channel numbers you don't see). This is time consuming process of going back and forth with he drive between the PC and the AVIC with my rigged IMAGETBL.DAT finding 1 or 2 at a time. I got half of them last night before I ran out of time, should be able to get the rest tonight.

- New traffic logos are being made today as well.

If all goes well I may have the update packs out late tonight, otherwise it'll be sometime Friday night or Saturday morning.

The system of doing logos doesn't appear have changed with the Z130 which is good. The small logos are the same size as on the F series at 90x30 with a different background. The large logos are completely new size...170x55. I don't see any specialized backgrounds like on the large Zx series so this shouldn't be a big deal to do. As soon as I finish up the release for the other models I will modify the extraction process for a new size and then the generation program for a new model.

I resolved the last of the station IDs last night so I can now generate the table OK. I hadn't done my QA of how the all large icons looked yet...I've been mostly working off the small icon list. When I did I found several images didn't look right and sure enough XM slipped me another doozy with this new channel guide PDF. The graphic artist for some reason put this white outline background behind nealy a quarter of all the logos. It's not visible on the PDF as its the same color as the PDF background but once extracted and put on the AVIC which doesn't have a pure white background it looks awful, and worse it increases the size of the whole extracted logo making the important visible parts smaller.

This morning I pulled up the guide in Inkscape again and had to manually ungroup and remove these white background shapes out of all the affected logos. After an hour and a half I got it cleaned up and so now I'm doing whole process over again of exporting the 300+ PNG bitmaps of the channel guide again for the extract program. If the images all look good then the release will be tonight.
