D3 - Video output resolution

Recommended Posts

I have a bunch of questions regarding the video output capabilities of the D3.

Firstly, the display has a 17:9 aspect ratio, and a resolution of 1440 (480 x 3) x 234 for a total of 336,960 pixels. (from Crutchfield)

1. What does (480 x 3), mean ? How does 1440:234 translate into the resolution of 17:9 ? I am confused.

2. Is the video out on the D3 limited to the screen resolution of the D3?

Shortly, I plan to feed the composite AV output from my iPhone 4 into AV1 input of the D3 and route the video out to a rear overhead video monitor with a resolution of 1280x1080.

3. Need conformation that the D3 will provide video output from its multi video input sources. Making sure that -

- it is not just the in-build DVD player.

- it does not require the Pioneer IP bus extension to drive external video output

4. Will I get the unmodified iPhone 4 (composite) video signal at the D3 video out, or will it be modified signal matching the D3 screen resolution. Generally, speaking for all input video sources to the D3 is the video out signal the same as the video input or is it modified?

-If it is a modified video output, then I will probably split the signal from the iPhone 4 and feed one pair to the rear monitor and the other to the AV1 input.

5. The Apple composite AV cable has a USB charge cable extension included. Is there a USB adapter to 12V charge cable that I can use to directly power?

- The alternative is to use a USB cigarette lighter plug and then power the plug through in a roundabout way.

Thanks. I really appreciate some feedback here.
