Hi Everybody,

I'm expecting to receive my new AVIC-X930BT in a couple of days and want to get prepared.
Did some search in this forum related to X930BT bypass but fond non uniform results. Some
say that wiring would be same with F series, and others say just mode yellow/black wire up/down.
Just want to get confirmation that this which is the correct option to perform the bypass.

Also, what is that bypass going to change? Will it only let me watch videos when driving or
will also open up the ability to change destinations when driving as well?

Last questions is if it would be possible to take out initial "OK" confirmation screen?

I followed this video exactly and my bypass works. I can watch videos from my iPhone 4 ('tv out' on some apps isn't active on the iPhone 3GS), netflix and slingplayer mobile (haven't tested youtube) WHILE the car is driving.
I do have my VSS wire connected, so even if that senses you're moving, it's irrelevant to the bypass.

Furthermore, even though the mute is grounded, mute works just fine when using the radio and I have full use of bluetooth phone calls

That sounds promising. Well, actually i did bypass on my old F-90BT and that worked flawlessly.

Regarding wires. I'm planning to do steering wheel integration and got control modules from PAC - SWI-CAN2 and SWI-PS. Those modules have 1/8" jack that is supposed to transmit speed, reverse gear and break signals from vehicle CAN BUS interface to head unit. Do any of you guys have experience with this kind of setup? I assume that with 1/8" jack connected I do not need to tap into VSS and reverse wires, right? How about mute wire, should it still get connected?

I have a 2005 Mazda 3. I used the PAC SWI-PS

on my car there was no vss wire in the harness. based on everything I read on Mazda 3 forums, I tapped into it (and it's working great) behind the speedometer. the reverse gear I picked up in the passenger kick panel. none of that is handled by the steering wheel adapter.

my steering wheel adapter had several wires, but only ground, switched power and one for the control itself got connected to the factory harness. the rest I actually slipped the pins out of the adapter as to remove extraneous wires.

I assume you didn't utilize CAN BUS interface. I've got SLK 350 and dont want to ruin the car tapping wires left and right. Hope PAC module will feed the car speed information through wired remote input.

Actually the main trouble is obtaining those wires. Its not always straightforward to do that (I used to do if for my old honda).
Just I used to see some Dietz CAN BUS adapters that pull out ignition, vss and reverse signal, and when buying
PAC module I thought that it might have that capability as well...

I used PAC canbus and PAC swi on my 08 Vw. Worked perfectly. Didn't have to tap into a single factory wire. Not sure if they're as seamless on other cars. Got vss and reverse signal with bypass on x920 and everything is A ok

Wannabe Actuary, can you please tell me what cable you are using to play slingbox on your iphone4 to your avic?

when bypassing the unit and moving the mute wire
does that affect the Muteing of the system when a phone call comes in ?
or how does that affect anything ?

also leaving the VSS wire plugged in does it know its moving and will the navigation options like imputing or changing destinations whyll in motion work ?
i really don't care about watching a dvd when driving
i just want to be able to input new destinations without having to stop for 5 minutes when im digging a nice highway cruise and all

The muting circuit is there for external devices only. Bluetooth is internal, so incoming calls are unaffected by moving the wire. Only you would know if you have an external device that needs to get a mute signal.

I have the VSS wire hooked up on a 2011 Toyota Tacoma, and can input into the navigation system without stopping.
