mike17
I have just received a x930bt. I am doing the install this weekend. Do I need to run the punk wire from the harness anywhere?
ThumperPup
i am not sure but i think that wire you are talking about is the VSS vehicle speed sensor wire
mike17
That is the wire I am talking about. From what I am gathering it just makes the gos speed more accurate. I am just curious if I can just leave it be and not hook it up.
ThumperPup
id like to know this also i think someone ones told me that its there for say if your going threw areas that might not easily pick up a gps signal it will make sure it keeps you on rout with where you are untill you pick up a good signal it also is for when you go threw tunels or somehting like that where there will be no signal it can be there to tell you how fast your going
Ralpharn
This is your vehicle specific question, most of the cars have this signal connected to factory HeadUnit, it is used to adjust volume according to the car's speed.
mike17
I do not have this built in to my factory harness. Any idea where I could find out where this wire is? Again, is this necessary to hook up?
lbridges
It (the vss wire) is not necessary to hook up. It helps with maintaining position when GPS drops off due to a tunnel, tall bldg etc. It may help with an Automatic Sound Leveling scheme (increase volume at higher speeds - don't know would never use such a thing if it's there). Regarding finding it, it varies by car. In my case (2011 Tacoma) there was a wire coming off an interior fuse block I was able to tap into and get the VSS signal. ThumperPup
yes it does verry by car my VSS wire on my car comes out the dash cluster itself in the plug that plugs into the left side of the dash cluster this is on all 98-01 cadillac sevilles in 2002-04 they switched it and put it in the harness itself like mentioned above
