gumbey75
Unit has a password protect but never input one, will the 3.0 software update work from the f series forums? And if so will it take away the password protected unit?
munnarg
From what I understand if you don't know the password you'll have to ship it to Pioneer to get it unlocked. Don't think it's cheap either, sorry.
1loudls
hell no, the software from a different radio with different hardware will not work. pioneer is the only fix.
odskaggs2
Will this work for the password ? install Condi's HACKMODE v1.4 then check user-system-security-password find a plain text file with your password
1loudls
that would be an interesting work around if it does work, god knows there has been a thousand poor souls shat have been locked out.
ThumperPup
im confused i have heard about hack mode i read it a few places here or read where some have talked about it but wondering what is it exactly ?
odskaggs2
Basically it allows you to get to the windows ce os that the units run. Then you could run other apps instead of the stock pioneer stuff. However, in that mode I dont believe they have the gps hardware working yet. Of course to read a plan text password file stored in the operating system you wouldn't need gps. If they can get the gps hardware working then you'd be free to use any other ce based nav software you wanted.
SCOD
You can reset the password through the condi hack. I just bought and installed (well installing ) this unit in my B6 Passat. I stumbled upon this forum while trying to find a way around the password. I believe that you can open the user folder, then a setup folder and there's a security file that reveals the password. Tomorrow I am programming my steering wheel controls. This unit is rocks!

I was trying for 4 digits but instead it was bday date. correct location is USER\SYSTEM\SECURITY\PASSWORD.DAT EDIT that file and you will see the password
The Tos
I have used the HACKMODE to get into my unit when i forgot my password. It works perfectly. There are detailed instrucitons within this forum.
pvandernoord
Worked for me too. Download the program to sd card, load from unit, find the password file, view it. Then restart and enter it. Perfect. Takes 5 minutes (after an hour of running to Wal-mart for the sd card, downloading the software, figuring out how to navigate the unit with the software)
