If you could do 2 or 3 character searches it would make mysql (the database) look through ~250k posts to find 2 or 3 matching characters. It's not practical. Lets say someone searched for common words like "the" "it" "jpg" etc, it would be bad... that many results would probably run the server out of RAM. Whenever I click on a link in a forum message, all I get is an error like this: "[#404] Sorry, we could not locate the page you are requesting to view.
