penguin31
Hi All I know many of you are professional car audio installers, so I thought I might be able to pick your brains about adding iPod connectivity to a 2006 Mini Cooper. The car is a lease, so I don't want to start tearing up the dashboard or replacing the factory head unit. I live in an area where the FM band is pretty saturated, so an FM transmitter won't really suit my needs. Does anyone know if the factory head unit in a '06 Mini Cooper has any type of AUX input on the back of the radio that I could use to add some type of iPod adapter to? -rich

felix
My other car is a Mini, the stock head unit does have an option for a IPOD interface, it is a dealer part, about 150 bucks.
jimmy303
A company called Soundgate makes an aux input, I believe. Also check out Peripheral Electronics's line of iPod Solutions. I think they may make one that will interface directly with your factory head and give you control and display right on the factory unit.
penguin31
Thanks felix and jimmy. Your responses were very helpful. The suggestion for the Soundgate product led me to finding this: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-0i9wXTGEzW ... 581PA11BMW which I think will work out just fine. Most appreciated. -rich
jimmy303
http://www.peripheralelectronics.com/appGuides.asp Also check out this product. Look at the adaptor for BMW 96-06. That will also work.
