I can thoroughly recommend this. I used the microphone from my home Yamaha 7.1 amp and what a huge difference. I have struggled to get the best out of this unit and now it sounds incredible.

I also jailbreaked my iphone and can now mirror TomTom in app mode (sound & visual) thanks to the advice on here.

+1 I thought I had things sounding pretty great until I got a big improvement doing AutoEQ with the mic from my home Sony.

do you need a special mic? I tried with a regular mic and for some reason when I hit start it comes back with "Error. Please check MIC."

My mic is for setting up a surround amp at home, wasn't a Pioneer or anything special. Just make sure you push it in all the way, mine didn't do anything until it went the last couple of millimetres.

I have the mic that came with my Sony home theater receiver, I guess the mic gets placed in the center of the cabin for best results

According to the manual you should put it on the driver's head rest.

I stuck mine to the headrest and left it to it, takes 5 minutes. Just replaced the Porsche front speakers with Alpines so I need to run it again.

yup, I taped my Sony mic to the drivers head rest and about 5 minutes later the calibration was complete.

Just did mine. Huge improvement in SQ. Wish I had noticed it sooner.

Can you give a link to the mic you bought off Ebay?

Why is this mic so hard to find anywhere to buy??

Also, i cant seem to get auto EQ to turn on at all. I plugged in my Denon surround mic figuring it may work. But i can't even turn on auto eq to test it out.

Any ideas? Thanks

It is most likely the mic itself. I have an Arcam mic that I plugged in and it didn't work. The Pioneer mic was detected immediately, ran through the test and all was good.

Looks like a new batch is coming through in a few weeks.
