Cincycaddy
BTW-Denso is a Fujitsu Ten/Eclipse subsidary. Chris.
OSUV
Very interesting study. It's nice to see that Pioneer is leading the pack! I wonder if there is a way to find out which mapping software is being used on the Lincoln Zephyr's Pioneer Nav system. It would be interesting to know if it is TeleAtlas. I also wonder which consumer Pioneer system it is likened to; the N3, D3 etc.??? Thanks for the results of the study. Cheers, Kevin
whtcrxghst
Close. Our JL/eclipse rep said that is just a story/rumor and denso is a giant company that makes tons of car safety and electrical parts (airbags, heating, blah, blah, blah) and used to make Kenwoods navigation. Denso is a close partner of eclipse (a much smaller company) and have used their navi software many many times. Toyotas will often come with a Denso OR a Fujitsu Ten--because they are both minority owned by Toyota. Denso and Fujitsu Ten are completely different companies, that Toyota happens to own small parts of BTW-Denso is a Fujitsu Ten/Eclipse subsidary. Chris.

whtcrxghst
And why do I keep spelling Denso with a Z? Sorry if I missed any of them in my edit
03Aviator
Hmmm....sounds fishy to me. I'm not sure they have even sold 800 Lincoln Zephyr's yet....
Jim
Well, without delving through all that data (which I guess indicates that the majority of people like the Pioneer Nav system) I wonder why MINE isn't capable of plotting a reasonably logical course between point a and point b? Maybe I need to dump my ride and get a Lincoln Zephyr?
OSUV
Hey 03Aviator, Not so fishy. With dealership sales of the new Zephyr beginning in the autumn of 2005, Lincoln dealers sold just under 5,000 Zephyrs through December 2005, and an additional 24,000 Zephyrs in the 2006 calendar year through September. Just thought you might want to know this. FYI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lincoln_Zephyr Cheers, Kevin
jmorton10
Well, without delving through all that data (which I guess indicates that the majority of people like the Pioneer Nav system) I wonder why MINE isn't capable of plotting a reasonably logical course between point a and point b? That is exactly why I just bought my second Eclipse NAV unit after extensively testing my neighbors Z1. I'm glad I had a chance to try his out as that is what I was planning to buy, but the NAV function was so poor I changed my mind(the Eclipse NAV is superb) I still may buy a Pioneer if the company gets its act together as I really like the unit a lot, but I do way too much traveling to use a sub-par NAV setup. ~John
jmorton10
There is something screwy about those ratings, I just removed the factory Visteon NAV from my 06 Escape Hybrid & the score listed for that POS is WAY WAY too high. That unit is a good 4 years out of date(the maps are not even on DVD, they give you a stack of 12 CD's you have to feed it depending on what area you are in). The display is the size of a postage stamp & half the roads in my area aren't even shown(they are all there on my Eclpise unit) ~John
whtcrxghst
Wow. Its really a CD based Nav system? We were talking about the AVIC505 on here recently when Pioneer still used them. Has to be at least five years now
djmixmac
Yeaherr! My car is Number 2 on the list! Too bad I dont have that OEM navi.
