1loudls
Because I messed up one wire? for the record, car are not built like they used to be, messing up on a single wire could cause thousands of dollars in computer modules or serious injury from exploding parts in the car. as far as lining my pockets,I'm sorry that I have a set of skills that i used to provide my life style. a lot of training, experience and investment in tools went in to this, its no accident. i also know my limits and would prefer to pay a proper specialist when the need arises. ironmanDD
Can a micro bypass be used as an alternate solution? http://www.ebay.ca/i...=item231bc681b4
1loudls
Can a micro bypass be used as an alternate solution? http://www.ebay.ca/i...=item231bc681b4 it should work as the units are bypassed the same way, BUT there is no way to adjust the time of each action, so its hard to say, also it may work now but then pioneer might change something in the firmware that might need a slightly different timing and then it might not work. or it might just not work at all. could always try it and see. kman1971
I got my tr7 today and have been trying to program it. It came programmed for the alpine bypass and the instructions only have up to 16 modes. I tried to do the 17 mode but I didn't get the 17 confirm lights. Can this one be programmed in 17 mode or do I have to get the relay and program it in 12 mode?
1loudls
Can this one be programmed in 17 mode or do I have to get the relay and program it in 12 mode? according to the dude that works for PAC, they all do it and you must be doing it wrong.

kman71
Any suggestions where to get a standard relay or is there another name for it? I went to autozone and advance auto this morning and they didn't have a four pronged relay with the numbers 85,86,87, and 30 on it. Would napa or radio shack have it and what do i ask for? Thanks again for the help.

kman71
NEVERMIND. Glad I tested it before hunting down the relay and changing anything. I hooked up my new Motorola Droid Razr Maxx and left the tr7 on and programmed in mode 2 or the Alpine bypass mode. BINGO, works perfect, just had to press the ok on the warning screen, go through the white dot calibration and audio AND VIDEO both work now all the time. Not everything works touch screen though, seems to be some software/app compatibility or safety issues that default you back to the phone, but everything shows and works through the AppRadio2 as it should. Let's hope Pioneer continues to develop it and more apps are available. Waze is pretty cool, works off Google maps and must be the appradio version of google maps, great nav and audio commands and voice activated features. I wish you could read and respond to your text on the screen though, hopefully in a future upgrade. Now to try and figure out how to personalize the backgrounds on the screen like my old avic-z2 did. kman71
The wife got home and I tried the AppRadio2 with the PAC TR7 in Alpine bypass/mode two with her Samsung Droid Charge, worked like a charm. The only real problem I have noticed today is with the rear view cam. I am 99% sure it is connected right but it does not come on when in reverse, but you can turn it on with the main screen button anytime. It also seems to have a mind of it's own. When the camera is selected to on, it just randomly comes on, so I turned it off. I thought the last firmware upgrade was supposed to address the issue, but it didn't cure all the issues. Hopefully the next one will.
1loudls
^ a couple of weeks ago, I got an email from corporate, apparently all of our stores had to ship all of our app radio's back to pioneer because of a recall in the software. the glitch had something to do with system stability when using back up camera's must have been a pretty big issue instead of manually updating them in the field like we had to with the 2.0 update on the F-series to warrant shipping thousands of these bastards around. as for people who have already bought them, they are supposed to grab the update from pioneers website, are you sure you have the latest version (i bet you do, pioneer isnt know for fixing all of the problems with any of their updates) i would test to make sure the reverse wire read like it should, other than that there is not much that you can do, the balls in their court. 1loudls
Any suggestions where to get a standard relay or is there another name for it?everywhere, if they sell car parts, they damn should have some kinds of relays. I went to autozone and advance auto this morning and they didn't have a four pronged relay with the numbers 85,86,87, and 30 on it. Would napa or radio shack have it and what do i ask for? probably because standard relay's (SPDT) have five "prongs" (or terminals) 85, 86, 87a, 87, and 30 (you just dont connect anything to 87a)
1loudls
does anybody know what the timing is for the alpine mode?? it does make sense that it could work, since it basically does the exact same thing on one wire (simulate setting, releasing, and resetting and leaving the parking brake on) while also adding a positive trigger to simulate holding the foot brake down while doing the other sequence. you are just not hooking anything up to the foot brake wire. Spokensound
Loudls how much would you charge to install and App Radio 2 in a 07 Mercury Montego? I'm not too far from Ann Arbor. I've done head unit and an amp install before but this may be a bit of a reach for me.
