JAvicN2
I had trouble resetting my Avic N2 back to the original 50MT discs after I had installed the 60M discs. After you have installed 60M it does not let you reinstall 50MT unless you erased the memory that holds 60M. I understand that this method also works for the avic N1. Any Damage caused to your avic N2 N1 is not any of my responsibility. i have done this without a problem but if you are not comftrable doing this by yourself then take it to a technician and take them this instructions so that they can do it for you. This is the total reset process step by step i found it on www.avicx1forums.com and it worked fine. REMOVE DISK HOLD RESET AND EJECT RELEASE RESET BUT HOLD EJECT SCREEN WILL GO BACK IN AND OUT-THEN SAYS PLEASE PRESS THE RESET BUTTON…DON’T THEN WITH JOY PAD PRESS … UP,RIGHT,UP,RIGHT,DOWN,RIGHT,DOWN,RIGHT…THEN OK (JOYPAD BUTTON INWARDS) PASSWORD SCREEN WILL COME ON SCREEN BREIFLY TEST MODE SCREEN APEARS-CLICK JOYSTICK TO RIGHT ONCE SCROLL DOWN TO NUMBER 6-PROGRAM FORCED WRITE (OK) FIND NUMBER 1 SYSTEM PROGRAM (INSERT DISK --CNDV 40/50/60?) PRESS 1 SYSTEM PROGRAM (OK) SELECT 2 DVD/CD ROM (OK) SELECT LANGUAGE… (ENGLISH) PRESS (VIEW –POS) BUTTON SHOULD SEE SYSTEM PROGRAM GOING UP IN % WHEN FINISHED PRESS (BACK) FIND NUMBER 6 PROGRAM FORCED WRITE AGAIN (OK) NUMBER 3 APPLICATION PROGRAM (OK) SELECT 2 DVD/CD ROM (OK) SELECT 1 UK ENGLISH...THEN PRESS (VIEW – POS) BUTTON SHOULD SEE SYSTEM GOING UP IN % WHEN FINISHED PRESS (BACK) TEST MODE PAGE 1 SELECT 6 - CLEAR BACK UP MEMORY (OK) SHOULD SAY FINISHED THEN ASKS FOR RESET BUTTON TO BE PRESSED PRESS RESET ON FRONT OF UNIT START SAT NAV AGAIN ASKES FOR LANGUAGE PRESS NO (READ TEXT) SYSTEM STARTS BUTTONS OK = JOYPAD INWARD BACK = JOYPAD TO THE LEFT…NOTE THIS WILL BRING YOU BACK TO PREVIOUS PAGE BACK = BAND BUTTON ….NOTE THIS WILL TAKE YOU BACK TO THE MAIN MENU

JAvicN2
Yes if you follow the steps correctly then the Avic N2 should have come back up to the 50MT software, or which ever disk you put in for the last step. I preffered the 50MT.
syclonekid43
i tried this with my n1 with a n2 brain. when i do this part. "WHEN FINISHED PRESS (BACK) FIND NUMBER 6 PROGRAM FORCED WRITE AGAIN (OK) NUMBER 3 APPLICATION PROGRAM (OK) SELECT 2 DVD/CD ROM (OK) SELECT 1 UK ENGLISH...THEN PRESS (VIEW – POS) BUTTON SHOULD SEE SYSTEM GOING UP IN % " it shows next to english uk NG. after that im stuck. it tells me to insert proper disk. problem started after i could not find an addy. so i installed updated disc i got off ebay. which was a burned copy. i put the east disc in and half way into the upgrade it said disc error or something along those lines. after i searched here, i found all the problems with ebasy burned disc's. now i wish i never put it in there. but now i cant downgrade. i really dont feel like taking the radio out and sending it out. what else is there i can do? radie842
I just got my radio back from the flex cable upgrade. I had to do full reset and reinstall the 50 disc because they upgraded my system but gave me no disc. The reset works!!!!!!!!!!
DrPhantum
Will this work to prepare the unit to sell? What I mean is... I have my home address in there... and my girlfriend's address, and my work address... etc. I don't want a stranger to have this information, so I want to reset it back to the factory specs. Interestingly, the RESET TO FACTORY SETTINGS button is grayed, even after I completed the procedure in the first post. Any help? Thanks!
whtcrxghst
Why don't you just go into the address book and delete them? Will this work to prepare the unit to sell? What I mean is... DrPhantum
Oddly, that option isn't there, either. At least, I didn't see it. I did go into the address book, and the only buttons were the little map next to each address, back, and esc. Is there some kind of limited functionality mode if you don't have certain things hooked up?
premis
I tried updating using this but got stuck at one of the spots. Everything worked fine unitl i got to this point WHEN FINISHED PRESS (BACK) TEST MODE PAGE 1 SELECT 6 - CLEAR BACK UP MEMORY (OK) SHOULD SAY FINISHED THEN ASKS FOR RESET BUTTON TO BE PRESSED PRESS RESET ON FRONT OF UNIT After I did the application program it brought me back to the program force write screen and wouldn't allow me to use the back button to get to the clear back-up memory section. I ended up hitting the reset button to get out of the programing mode and it seems to have updated. But I'm wondering if I'm missing something by not clearing the memory?
