1993 Accord with Bose system

I was installing a system in my friends Accord yesterday and picked up a horrible engine whine. Summary of setup: Pioneer DEH-4800, Infinity 6x9's in rear and 6 1/2's in front doors. Used the Schoshe harness adaptor to connect to the factory harness and it has the line level converter in it. Soldered all conections. When the engine is off I get a low buzz and the amp seems to pop when the stereo is turned off. When the car is started up I get the lovely alternator whine that gets louder as the rpm's increase. I have tried adjusting the gain levels on teh converter to no avail. I am heading out right now to make a new ground for the stereo and will also double check all the connections. Can anyone think of something that is particular to the Bose systems that I may have missed? This is the first time I have tried to tie into a factory amp and am not sure what to check next. The accord is a sedan. When I regrounded the deck it cut it down some and then I grounded the Bose amp to the chassis instead of the to the harness. There were two constant hot yellow/red leads and two black ground leads, so I grounded the 2 blacks to the chassis and that cut it down even more. The hum is almost gone and the whine only kicks in at high rpm's now. I will probably just rerun the speaker leads straight from the deck. The rears won't be a problem, but getting into the doors is going to be a pain in the ass - any suggestions? Thanks for the help - Erik

Since the amp inputs are speker level already, can I just get rid of the line level converter at the harness and then splice the input lead to the output lead on the amp? I noticed that there was a separate output harnes from the amp for the rears - at least when it was unplugged I didn't get any sound from the rear speakers, but I did from the front. The only wierd thing was that it had 2 green, 2 red, and 2 black leads. The two black were grounds and the red and greens gave me a slight power read when the stereo was on and then when I plugged it in the rear speakers kicked in. Erik

Yeah. You can save some headaches as for running wire goes too. Here's what I would do. Remove the line output convetor from the radio's harness. At the amp location,you want to find the input wires for each speaker and tie those into the output wires. Then you don't have to worry about running 1 inch of wire.
