seattlesbestcustoms
Brand new to the forum hope I did not miss anything in the search under this topic so here goes. Just purchased a repo vehicle with avic n1 and no faceplate so i rolled the dice and purchased a new faceplate for $70 long story short everything works except the screen mechanism so I hit open and gently pulled and it motored out and flipped up. Opened the unit up in hopes of finding a bad ribbon cable but instead found the actual problem with this unit. There is a drive shaft that goes from left to right with 3 gears on it, the innermost gear is cracked and seperating causing it to bind up every revolution until you manually pull it past that point, I removed the gear and slid the screen back in the chassis and it moves freely with no binding. I have exhausted the internet in search of this gear and will be calling pioneer to see if I can track this down but in the past I have had a hard time finding this type of thing without a part number and was hoping someone here might know what i am looking for, Also when taking the unit apart I slipped cutting the tape off the cover of the monitor mechanism and accidently ruined the ribbon, what is the best place to purchase the ribbon, I see it is discontinued from pioneer and everyone on ebay has it marked up 100%
