Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum. Ive been lurking around and reading posts while trying to learn about the D3 I picked up. Its my first navigation style head unit. Of course, the map discs were lost by the previous owner so I went to ebay and looked. The prices pretty much turned me away so I did the old torrent search. After downloading the torrent for the latest maps, I had nothing but trouble burning a successful ISO that worked so I broke down and bought a set on ebay. I immediately started efforts to burn backup copies. I have most every burning and decrypting program under the sun thanks to a lot of tech friends. Being no expert at it, I bought a stack of double layer DVD's and sat down while watching TV and made my first attempt. Keeping in mind all that I've read on here about what burners work and don't , DVD's ect ect. By some stroke of luck I must have got the right combination of hardware and DVD's because I successfully burned East and West DVD's on the first attempt. Went to the truck and reset the unit just to see if I had just made new coasters. They both loaded like a charm. Sooooo, with that being said, I"m pretty happy. I did use Nero 8 to burn the ISO files to the discs, but did it at 2x burn speed. I haven't yet tried it, but I am going to install the old Nero 5 and try it also. Unknown to many, I've always been told and had much success with burning protected cd's with the old versions of Nero as its said that burning at 1x or 2x on the old original versions actually do a bit for bit copy. The laptop I did it on was my Dell DV7 series I believe off the top of my head.
