AVIC Z150BH Announced (W/Other Models)

Doesn't look a drastic overhaul honestly. 8GB flash storage for nav and an HDMI input I believe on the Z model only. I'm going to CES this week so I'll get a chance to play around with it first hand.

Also...it's now listed on Pioneer's site for $14.00! I think we should all jump on this price before they change it! LOL!

actually, provided the screenshots there are mock-ups, the UI and possibly nav seem to have been overhauled. Suspecting they might be using a new nav like papago, etc, which would probably be a really good thing. Will be interested to see if the UI/nav changes are back-ported to 2012 models in a 2013 map update!

Also, looks like tmc traffic tuner is "built-in" to both x950bh and z150bh. This would be a change that should have happened imho in 2012 models. Also, finally, both models have hd tuner built in.

Looks like maybe they introduced the x850bt to be the low-end version (like what x940bt used to be) - without hd tuner or traffic tuner, and without the digital video inputs

will be waiting eagerly to see service manuals!

I'm flying out to Las Vegas tomorrow. I will take a look at the UI firsthand on Friday. I have a feeling my old accessories for XM Radio are outdated since I "think" they dropped IP bus. I have a bunch of questions for them when i get there but it takes time to get the right person to talk to you at the booth since the first batch of people were just trained a week before to do the show but don't actually work for Pioneer. I always have to ask for a tech.

Hi Guys. Anything new on the Z150BH from the guys that were at CES. I was all set to buy a Z140 right before the show. I am interested in the user interface and Maps pages. Any real improvements here? Traffic isn't important to me and it seems like all the iPhone 5 connectivity is available on the Z140. Any additional information would be appreciated. Don't really want to wait until the Spring but if the enhancements are worthwhile, I will.

Thanks.

I unfortunately didn't get pictures (I had trouble with my phone which needs to be replaced). As for major improvements: The only thing that has changed is that the UI has been overhauled and the processing and graphics engine is much faster so it calculates routes a bit quicker. As for connectivity, it's pretty much the same in that if you are using an iPhone 5, you will need 3 cables (2 from Apple and 1 from Pioneer because of the A/V & data) but if you're on a iPhone 4 (which is 30 Pins) then you only need one cable from Pioneer. If you're using Android, there are only a select batch of phones it will work with and that phone must have HDMI out for the video of the apps to be seen on the head. You can control the Android wirelessly via Bluetooth or wired but you still need a wired connection for HDMI out for the apps. In addition, the IP-Bus technology has now been dropped and all the GEX satellite receivers are NG with the 2013 line. You need the new SXV200 which is much smaller than the old units. Finally it appears that HD Radio is now built in as well which it wasn't on the X series I believe im 2012.

I have a scan of the brochure which indicates the necessary accessories that work with the appropriate head unit and Smartphone but I can't figure out how to attach this image on this forum. It's a local JPG. If anyone can help me I will upload it.

Thanks.

Here's a link to the cable info in the brochure.

Don't want to hijack this topic but from dahozzman's post above, I gather that the Z140 still had the BT problems documented in the BT MIC sticky thread. There is no reference to the Z140 in that thread. I had a Z1 years ago and the BT was unusable. I won't buy the Z150 if this problem has not be addressed. Anyone with a Z140 have a comment? If there is another thread on this, please let me know. Maybe some Z140 owners can post to the BT Mic thread. Thanks

I can comfirm 100% that the BT quality is fantastic in the z130+. I had the old Z3 and it was unusable. Cant go wrong with any radio now I dont think

I have a 140 in my audi and i had a z3 (originally z1) in there before. Night and day difference. Everyone says its real clear.

I have a 2013 tacoma as well and factory BT on that people say is even better. But the truck is quieter than my audi, so ya...

anyhow, I would say it is lights and bounds ahead of the old z3.

I'm curious if anyone has the AVIC-Z150BH service manual.  If so, what is the procedure for obtaining service manuals for head units?   E.g. is it Pioneer or a third party?   Also, I assume it includes X850BT, X950BH, and Z150BH -- is this correct?  Lastly, if you've seen the Z150BH service manual and read earlier versions, how does Z150BH differ from earlier models?  Any insight is greatly appreciated.  Thanks.
