X950BH - Can't change music folders on SD card while driving

Recommended Posts

I just talked to the Pioneer dealer who installed my new X950BH, and this was a new one to him. He referred me here. The problem is similar to the Nav while driving issue, but relates to the tunes on my micro SD card. The system will not let me change folders while driving. That means that if we're on the road, listening to one artist, and my wife wants to listen to someone else, I would have to pull over!!! That's just stupid! I don't have to actually apply the parking brake, so I'm not sure the usual bypass is the right answer. Has anyone else run into this, and how did you fix it?

I have not tried the mod yet but I will as soon as I get a chance. This is really infuriating. $1500 stereo and I have to stop to change folders. As soon as I start rolling the controls grey out. The only thing it will allow me to do is go to the next file. I can't go back up and I can't change files. This morning I talked to the store where I bought it and had it installed, and was told that this only applied the micro SD card slot, not the external USB port, to prevent people from playing movies while moving. Never mind that I don't need Pioneer telling me what I can do, that's irritating enough, but this is just plain stupid! Anyway, I tried what he suggested but the same thing happened....can't change folders. I even tried just loading mp3 files on the root, no folders, same issue. So "Preroll", I'm happy that yours works, but mine doesn't. The tech also suggested pushing the parking brake down a single click while driving. Aside from the Parking light and warning bell coming on, it had no other effect.

I am really getting angry about this. To listen to my mp3's my only option is to void my warranty by bypassing the P brake? Unbelievable! I would NOT have bought this stereo if I had known this.
