Chad
yea i have 2 amps and a capacitor installed, i tried turning down the gain but still the hiss. i have a 4 channel 1200 watt mtx, and a 900 watt rockford. I USED to have another 2 channel sony xplod, but the installer said it could be because of that amp, so i changed the amp for the mtx and still the hiss.
aznsmartass24
are you making sure everything has a good ground?
Chad
well i had it installed pro at future shop, and they checked and rechecked everything. both amps have seperate grounds as well as the avic. could a bad ground cause hissing even when nothing on the avic is playing? aznsmartass24
my friend had horrible hissing when no audio source was playing. His amp wasnt grounded properly.
Chad
so a bad ground can cause the noise? well ill double check it, any other reasons? also, would a ground loop isolator stop it?
4x4freak
do you have a good quality RCAs?
aznsmartass24
so a bad ground can cause the noise? well ill double check it, any other reasons? also, would a ground loop isolator stop it? Â A ground loop isolator is never as good as an actual group. From my experience, they never did much.
Chad
yea ive got some gold plated rca's i cant remember the company off the top of my head, but with my old deck i never had a problem, could it be the avic n3 unit it self?
slyk
the avic requires everything to be well-grounded. I dunno why. I've tried other decks in my car, and the factory deck, and they all work fine. But with the avic, i had some buzzing. It turned out to be 2 things in my case. Â The amp wasn't grounded incredibly well, Â and I hadn't crimped my ground connections for the avic too well. When I soldered and crimped my Avic's ground to a solid source, and grounded the factory amp to a better spot, the noise went away.
