avh-x8500bhsSiriusXM while using AppRadio

Recommended Posts

Pardon my newbie status here but I have searched and searched to find the answer and I can't seem to figure it out 100%.

My questions regards using SiriusXM while in AppRadio mode.  Is this possible?  I'm coming to the conclusion it is not since AppRadio mode seems to be a dedicated mode all in itself.  I have figured out how to use AppRadio mode and mirror my phone and am able to use iTunes Radio or iPod to play music while using google maps or apple maps for navigation.  But if I was do use a built in navigation app with AppRadio it seems I can't listen to SiriusXM at the same time.

Getting into "Digital AV" mode:

I also understand the frustration people have been having trying to change the mode from "others" to "digital av" to use AppRadio and/or mirror the iphone 5.  In addition to all of the steps mentioned (turn bluetooth off, pioneer unit off, unplug, etc.) I wanted to explain a little better for others new to this unit:

1) I simply did the above as well as used a small pin to reset the unit.  The reset button is on the front left of the face; hold it in for about 10 seconds and it resets.  Upon restart without the iPhone 5 plugged in I was able to switch it do "Digital AV".

It all works but if you're like me and tried to figure out how to use the 2nd USB port while this is selected, just stop....by puting it into "digital av" mode it turns off the ability to use the other USB port for iPod control.  I simply mirror my iphone and use it that way if I just want ipod controls and not the build int appradio media controls.  Or I simply don't connect anything and use bluetooth.

I also don't like the fact that the iPhone 5 gets very hot after a while of being plugged in. This is a concern.

2) Other says to turn off the unit as a step to get it in "digital av" mode and to turn the rear screen off as well.  There hasn't been a great description of this that I've found yet.  One would presume you mean the rear screen in the 2nd or 3rd row of the vehicle (um they don't have on/off switches - or at least my OEM Tahoe screen doesn't) so I knew there was more to it.  I came to find out that you need to turn the "rear screen" off on the Pioneer unit.  At the main screen, swipe to the right to get to the "Rear screen" controls and there is an "off" button just like the main screen when you turn it off.  Now do the rest of the steps peole talk about and it should work.
