Please help "Please insert appropriate Disc" on boot

Recommended Posts

I have owned my Avic-D3 for 8 years now. I own every accessory for it including the rear camera. Friggin love this thing, best deck I have ever owned. It has gone through my last 3 cars and worked like a charm.

For the past year I would occasionally get the "Please insert appropriate disc message" which I would normally solve by cleaning the disc and putting it back in a few times, worked like a charm.

Now last week out of no where I start my car and the message popups up immediately. I can hear the radio, I can cycle inputs, my bluetooth still receives calls everything is working fine but my screen just shows "Please insert appropriate disc". I've tried everything to get by the message from resetting to power cycle even unplugging battery for 10 min, nothing has worked. It has been about 2 weeks now and I have starting to think my deck has died, I am turning here as a last ditch effort to get this thing functional again.

I have already burned the original disc again (it had slight scratches) to ensure that wasn't the issue, even with a pristine disc the error still pops up on boot. It does "Check the disc" but shortly after it says an expanded version of the same error.

I don't even use the navi that is what is most bothersome, is there a way to simply disable the navi feature so it doesn't look for the disc and I can simply use my deck without the navi feature?

Any help from you pros on here would be greatly appreciated!
