sofakng
Has anybody had the "Parking brake wired incorrectly" message appear even after wiring the bypass? I'm using the 8000NEX and have had it happen twice, both times after turning off the car to fill it with gas, and then turning it back on it. I've soldered the parking brake wire to ground and used heat-shrink tubing to prevent shorts so I know it's wired correctly and securely. Not a big deal, but it's still weird that I still see the message (albeit very rarely)
VBLUE42
Leave your car running while pumping gas. 😠
drenyce311
Leave your car running while pumping gas. lol that too. Sand the ground surface with sand paper. make sure its a good connection or you can use a multi meter to check it.

drod
Worked perfectly on my 5000, just did it this morning, a local shop wanted $90 to do a bypass... Thank you for the post!
jct_ucb
Just finished my install of my NEX-8000 and the first thing I did was the bypass - worked perfectly, thanks again for the post!
Fern
Worked like a charm, first try, on my 5000NEX.
mattwolrad
Sorry if this is dumb?. Are we 100% sure the touching the screen doesn't work with the 4000nex? Anyone been successful? Does it only work if you have a nav unit? Assuming you try this with parking brake off and DVD in unit. I tried multiple times didn't work for me.
VBLUE42
The 4000 is not and AVIC unit and as the title states this is for AVIC units only. Feel free to try it but it has already been discussed what AVH units need to achieve the bypass.
kelkin
I get that every so often, no rhyme or reason as to when it happens.. I might not get it for a week, then I get it once a day two days in a row. The bypass is absolutely working for me though.
tickerguy
The 4000 needs the "traditional" microbypass approach as it does not have a nav reference that it can use to "verify" if the vehicle is moving or not.
duaneellison
AVIC-7000NEX - worked fine for me - it was nice to get that parking brake message to go away...
Jaxpr3394
Does anyone have a tutorial on how to ground the parking brake wire? I have never done this before, but am definitely interested in it so I do not have to keep pulling over to enter new NAV information. I have searched high and low and have not found anything about it. I have the Pioneer AVIC-8000NEX head unit. Thanks in advance!
VBLUE42
Hoestly if you have to ask this question you should probably not be doing your own installs in any way. That being said you splice the wire to a ground wire. The back wire from the unit harness will suffice.
Jaxpr3394
I didn't do my own head unit install, but I did take it back apart after to fix some of the connections that the installer did incorrectly, as well as run more wiring to get my phone to connect to the AppRadio. You are correct that I am very inexperienced, but splicing wires isn't hard. I just need to know which ones. Thanks for your reply, it is much appreciated!
