8000Nex Installation Accessories Questions

Recommended Posts

Hey gang, so I bought the 8000nex and it should arrive later this week or early next.

It is going in a 2006 Lincoln LS.  My kids don't particularly like to ride in the car so I don't have any need to play video while driving.

This is what I want to use:

  • iPhone 5 to stream music with either the Music app or Rhapsody.
  • iPhone 5 for speaker phone.
  • Steering wheel controls.

I will likely just use the Pioneer navi unless it really doesn't work well in my area.  I will probably also take advantage of CarPlay when it arrives.

Based on the above what cables do I need for my iPhone to do this or can I accomplish all of that with Bluetooth?  (I realize that the Steering wheel controls are need a module to interface with the unit).

One other question is, since I don't care about video, do I need to do the parking brake bypass?  I would want to be able to do the Navi while in motion.

Thanks in advance!

The only cable you would need is the lightning cable to connect to usb1, speakerphone will be bluetooth as would pandora and aha, if you choose to use them. On your 8000nex, you do not need brake bypass, there is a thread on here to bypass using software, not wired bypass, There are several camera options, which are discussed on threads also. I personally choose to use pioneer products over other companies, mainly because they are made for them, that being said, others have had good luck with other brands. I have not used Rhapsody on my unit, so i can't answer that one. When carplay comes available, you will not have to change cables, it will use the lightning cable also.
