Ashkaan
Hi Everyone, I have been reading the forums for hours and have not found any clear directions to removing the nag screen from the AVIC-z120bt unit. I currently have the 3.001 software from this site (thank you). I am planning on upgrading to 5.0 (not 5.1) from this post. However, the instructions don't mention, but a user on a post here (I can't find it, I've read so much by now) said that we must use the cardinfo.cif file from the 2012 update in order to not brick the device! Is that true? Also, I would also like to integrate the nag screen removal hack from this post. The instructions say to edit a Navi.exe. I found one at this address in the pack: "2013 USA-CANADA MAP UPDATE\Update\USER\PRG\APL". The edit is "At offset BEBFC, change 05 00 00 0A -> 00 00 A0 E1". I've done that. Next, I'm supposed to go into test mode, but I don't have a TestMode.key file to do so. Also, why am I going into test mode if I've just edited the update? Shouldn't I just install the update now with the edited Navi.exe file? Should I swap out the cardinfo.cif file too? Can someone please give some clear, detailed instructions for us idiots? Thanks in advance
Ashkaan
No responses? Can anyone please answer at least one of my questions? I have scoured this site for the answers and little is clear or confirmed.
Ashkaan
I went ahead and tried the above and it failed. I then tried just the 5.0 update without any adjustments and it worked, but now I'm stuck with the nag screen. I found a testmode.key file in the 5.1 update. I put that on the root of an SD along with the patched 5.0 Navi.exe, but it only took me to something that wanted to write uCom data. I didn't get the file manager. How do I get that? Am I the only one on here?

Ghozt
Ashkaan, you have to install the 5.0 update and then afterword go back and replace the navi.exe file that you modified. You replace it with the testmode software. There is a post in another thread to download the testmode software. you put it on the root level of your SD card and boot the head unit from that. Once in testmode you delete the original navi.exe and paste your modified navi.exe. It took me three tries to get it right.
