Gazpilot
You need a wifi OBD dongle
meall
something like this: http://www.tmart.com/ELM327-Bluetooth-OBD-II-CAN-BUS-Wireless-Transceiver-Dongle_p134152.html?cc=cad&fixed_price=hk_intl&utm_source=baseca&utm_medium=organic&utm_term=12002650&utm_campaign=product&gclid=CjwKEAjwxtKeBRDMzoeQmYn5uHcSJACGCF3DW2xSsvB9ppnLYOoBwQ65HVh28tS_9nPViHqnB7X_-BoCV4nw_wcB I saw the app too, but was wondering if I needed something to make it work, or the App Radio would drake it work by itself. It would have been too good to be true, right?
joemamma1954
Do not buy cheap china model. Go to Their website and they will tell you what is compatible. They have a new model coming out soon, that you plug in your auto and will shut itself off when you turn off the key. Their older model would stay on and run the battery down. There is unswitched power to the diagnostic port on the automobile and the obd2 dongles referred to in above post stay on.
joemamma1954
The one listed above wii NOT work.

Cathaldub
Which site? The app creators site http://www.palmerperformance.com/hardware/index.php
meall
Thanks. At ~$150 for one unit, I'm not sure it is worth the investment...
Cathaldub
pricey alright, I assume it has to be the wifi unit as the bluetooth will be in use with the radio already
joemamma1954
The new dongle can be preordered for 90.00 i believe.
dsd
I can confirm that elm327 clones will not work. I have the MX wifi on preorder: http://www.scantool.net Is it worth it? Depends on your use, but probably not. Still, cheap fun.
meall
I guess that only permit to read data from the car computer, not change or reprogram anything such as the tire pressure sensors. I have 2 set of wheels (winter/summer) with 2 sets of pressure sensors and sometimes the garage forget to reprogram them.
dsd
Once you have an obd2 dongle, more sophisticated software for a laptop can do tpms and reset codes. Dashcmd, can read and reset codes, but has a limited vehicle db (they are in app purchases). The link I posted above has everything you need.
