airhead830
I have the 4000NEX in my 2012 Lexus CT200H. Very impressive unit, except for the background noise during phone calls. The 4000 microphone sensitivity seems quite high, and even when driving on "quiet" roads people on the other end of the phone say the call is quite noisy ... to the point where I have to switch to my iPhone 5s with earbuds in order to have a chat with someone. Anyone else experiencing similar issues or have advise? In trying to troubleshoot the problem, I have relocated the microphone from the windshield to below the steering wheel. I also have the mic on the lowest volume setting. Any help/advise appreciated.
tekki
Try placing your mic away from a window, or roof.
jhren
Try placing your mic away from a window, or roof. And any air vents. Closing windows or roof also helps The foremost suspect aside from background noise is always air turbulence.... which actually creates noise in the nose piece of the microphone. airhead830
Thanks all. I resorted to placing the mic below the steering wheel to keep it away from windows and vents. That has provided some improvement, but still far inferior to the original system installed by Lexus. The worst of the problem seems to be road noise vs. wind or air. Might there be a way to suspend or insulate the mic from picking that up?
jhren
Is the OEM mic' still intact? Perhaps it is compatible and simply needs wired into the NEX. Manufacturers seldom if ever publish spec's for such items, so I'd have no way of knowing for certain without actually testing it.
