dangitZIN
I've had my AVIC-8000NEX for about a week now. Beautiful new UI and less than average navigation system (routes me to roads I would never use or tells me to exit and enter the highway during moderate to heavy traffic flow). I mainly use the navi during my commute to/from work just to get an ETA since I'm on the road 120+ miles a day. I am no professional, but I have installed many headunits over the past 12 years. Anyways my may concern is, whenever I use the navigation system, I would heara crackling or popping like sound whenever the voice guidance comes on. This still happens when I have turned down the voice volume and audio volume down. Just coming home right now from a friend's house, I started noticing the crackling sound even more consistently even without the navi on and just playing music. Now I am worried I may have blown my speakers. This is installed in my 2007 Infiniti G35 Coupe w/o Bose system and an after market amp and sub. First time I've ever experiencing something like this with a brand new unit and since my G35 is usually my garaged car and not used as much. So any ideas? Anyone else experiencing this? Or are my speakers actually starting to go?
Mr. Furious
I don't think you blew your speakers. It happens with mine, too. The loud one when navigation starts startles me every time. I also notice the other crackling. That isn't nearly as bad, and it comes and goes. My Passat has the Fender system, and my first thought was that the amp connection was loose. I checked that, though, and it was fine.
dangitZIN
It's weird... I didn't hear any of the crackling this morning on my way to work. But it really does bug me whenever it does it when I'm using the navigation system. I'm glad my speakers aren't blown. They're still stock, but I'm too broke and lazy to open up my car again. steeleimaging
I know this isn't going to be much help, but I have no issue with crackling speakers will using the nav system. I too have to 8000NEX. When I hooked my unit up, nav did take me on roads that were pretty odd for the programmed route. However, after I took off the dash and attached the speed cable and reset the nav for the speed control stuff.. I saw a notable improvement.
duaneellison
You know I've had a similar intermittent problem when playing music through an iPhone and a cable. Every once in a while it will start popping, once I reset the radio it's fine or if I switch source to like SirusXM. Not sure if this is a similar problem that you're having but it's odd nonetheless. Mr. Furious
That's basically how mine is. It happens both with my iPod (also via cable) and SiriusXM, but it's not constant or even consistent. Those are the only two sources I use, so I don't know if it also happens on AM/FM or over Bluetooth.
dangitZIN
I haven't really used the radio, so I don't know about the sources. I'll try to reset my navi to see if the route guide gets fixed. I've tried to lower down the voice guidance and also adjust the EQ settings to see if that helped with the crackling, but it still happens. I may end up just having to take it all apart again to see if there are any exposed wires or something not supposed to be connected. Good thing it's a long weekend for me because I am way to tired by the time I get home to do this during the work week.
NFrazier
The sound file for the TTS is horrible. I don't use it for that reason. I use the non TTS (even though she sounds like shes trying to seduce the directions).
Mr. Furious
Yeah, the US English TTS is horrible. Like, I get not being able to appropriately pronounce everything, but it sounds drunk when saying the number "eight." Given that the Interstates that I travel on most frequently both here and when I travel start with an 8, I couldn't take it.
EricVII
I want to know something what is pioneer going to do about this crackling and popping noises from this unit. I have the same issue with playing my music through my ipods and iphone.
jhren
I doubt Pioneer is going to let us know whether they intend to or even can remedy the problem. I believe the only thing we can do is let Support know that it happens... and each us that it happens to. One person generating a support issue will not give it priority... may not even give it need-to-fix status.
EricVII
Well they need a fix so everyone should call pioneer Tuesday when they open and let them know the issue. A firmware software needs to be made. I will let them know about all the people with this same issue and send them my video. The restoring the settings only can work so much. EricVII
Everyone having this issue call pioneer today at 1 (800) 421-1404 We need this issue fixed cause I want to play my music with no issues.
tksamtec
My AVIC-5100NEX has occasional popping, crackling, fuzz, distortion on all sources, but only on occasion. Did anyone here determine the source of this issue or if there is a fix. This seems to happen about 1 out of every 10 times I drive the car...never a real reason for it, but it does seem to be more frequent when its very warm outside or if the car was sittign in the sun all day before I drive (I am in PA, so its never 150 degrees inside the car when I leave work). After using this HU for over a year, I have seen other bugs too, besides the sound issues I described above and ones in this thread: 1. SIrius XM loses signal intermittently and the only solution is to power off the HU (ignition too), a simple source off-on will not fix this. When this happens all sources lose audio. So, it requires pulling over to the side of the road, and turning the key off, then back on to get the HU audio playing again...wow, really? Shame on you Pioneer...potentially causing an accident because of an intermittent bug. 2. Probably the most annoying issue is the complete loss of functionality at startup, which happens within 10 seconds of ignition on... so far the ONLY fix is to key off and back on, like #1 above. I think I really got a lemon of a HU here, as I seem to have a couple weird problems that no one else has, but this one is really bad... no audio at all from any sources until the car and HU reboots. I have been able to lessne the occurrence of this which ALWAYS occurs at really cold temps (below 20 degrees), as long as I don't try to drive the car until the Bluetooth autoconencts on the HU. Essentially, I start the car, and wait for the blue dot on BT to stop blinking, and be solid before droppign to reverse to back out of my driveway. This has been the only fix that has helped thsi problem. I have considered installing an on-off switch mounted somewhere to switch the ignition (12V) line, to prevent havign to pull over to restart the car when weird issues crop up. All of the problesm I have are major flaws, huge bugs, and the firmware updates have done nothign to resolve these issues. I wish I could get a new HU...I have been a long time Pioneer supporter and equipment user, and this HU has turned me off from buyign any of their future products. rustypipes281
I realize this thread is nearly a year old, but I am so frustrated with the exact same Sirius problem that I just wanted to commiserate with someone! I've had my 8200Nex since Dec. 2016. When it works, I really love it but there are several problems/glitches with it that drive me nuts and make me wish I had never bought it. The Sirius signal drop is by far the most annoying one for me. The other big glitch is with my backup camera. On any given day, the first time I put my car into reverse, the backup camera image works great; any subsequent use of reverse yields only a black camera screen. Occasionally even the first time doesn't work. So disappointing to have this type of problem with such an expensive unit.
