8000 firmware update

Recommended Posts

Getting super frustrated with this head unit between the apps or app radio and firmware update process.I followed pioneers instructions for the firmware update to the T. I made sure the card was formatted to fat 32 and made sure only the update folder was on the SD card. Went through the procedure on the head unit and I get an error that says "please connect a USB flash drive or SD card containing only the correct update file then press Continue to begin." I confirmed there is nothing else on this SD card, what am I doing wrong? By the way, the whole purpose of me updating from 1.0 3 is I heard that the app radio problem sometimes is resolved with a new firmware update.

RESOLVED! Not sure what happened but here is what I did. Re-formatted the SD card on a different windows pc running xp. The other was a windows 8.1 not sure if that is the reason. Re-downloaded the firmware and copied the decompressed folder to the card. Loaded the sd card into the 8000 and it worked. Low and behold, my APPS button on my screen still does nothing. I will search elsewhere in this site for help. Perhaps since my S5 is NOT rooted is the reason.

As an update, today I installed the Pioneer CD-SR100 and the CD-PAC WRI-P for my AVIC 8000NEX, and all still seems to be working fine.  I had already installed the 1.08 firmware, along with the "bypass" mentioned in earlier posts (Note: The bypass still works after the update, with no problem at all - no reinstall of the patch, no rework).  Aside from the usual issues of routing the wiring, all of this went flawlessly.  Some, but not all, of the settings that I had set earlier on the AVIC 8000NEX remained as they were, and I did not have to reset a bunch of stuff in the menus (bluetooth for the iPhones remains as it was when you disconnected the battery, I did not have to reinstall the "bypass".  That said, I did have to reset the "warnings" for voice notification of speeding, etc.)

Also, there isn't all that much functionality of the remote that I can see; howeverand this is significant to me -  it does provide some of the functionality that I wanted to achieve without reaching over to the screen (volume control, source switching, etc.).  So, considering the price of this upgrade (less than $70 with shipping from (Crutchfield, with whom I am totally good), I'm OK with the units.  It remains to be seen as to whether I can accept something tacked onto my steering wheel.  We'll see.

So, I'm OK with the 1.08 update and with the remote that I've installed.  The reader should note that I'm using an iPhone 6 and an iPhone 5c.  A few things to note: 91) You can only fully use Carplay when you're plugged in (to USB1 or HDMI); (2) most of the time, you can get what you want through Bluetooth and the 8000NEX maps;  and SIRI is only somewhat functional - When you press the SIRI button, be prepared to say the whole command.  The last statement that I've made is likely NOT intuitive to the user.  For instance, pressing the SIRI button and waiting for the test prompt beep (as one would expect") simply does not work.  So, when parsing a SIRI command, the user must say the entire command - "SIRI, PLAY SOME LED ZEPPELIN", immediately after pressing the button.  This method appears to work, whereas waiting for the command "beep" and waiting to speak to a response will get the user nowhere.   Perhaps  the updates to the firmware will correct these issues.

No flaming please; I'm just trying to make the users more aware.
