DHinSC
I'm sure you get tired of answering everyone's questions but.... I am working on my install. I soldered and heat shrank all my connections between the radio harness and the adapter. Is there any reason not to connect the black grounds together to use the harness ground? Or is it best to keep them separate? I also am a little worried about my bypass. the wire feels slightly loose. It may move 1/16 or so. I don't want this connection to break later. Is there anything I can do to tighten it. I did have it aligned correctly and have pushed it into the socket as far as I can. thanks for all your help. I have been watching this board for awhile as I planned my install.
cntrylvr79
Push it all the way in and just ziptie the harness. It'll be fine. As for the grounds, you should be fine tieing them all together and into the factory harness.
chill903
Keep us informed about your installation, and post some pictures. I'm soon going to try to install one in my '06 F-150.

DHinSC
Thanks for the answers and the encouragement. It looks like it will be Friday before I get to finish the install.
chill903
I'll seond that one. Factory as f*ck. Â What in-dash installation kit do you guys use when installing the D3 into the new Ford dash? Â As I ordered mine from Crutchfield, I'll have the freebie kit that comes with the D3. Â Do you prefer another mounting kit?

chill903
Just finished installing it in my F-150. You guys were right... It does look truly "factory". I'll try to get some pics of it up soon. Â I can't get the bypass working right at the moment, so I'll have to go back and check all my connections.
DC Mike
I have a D3 in my 2004 Expeditiion... it looks and works great. Did the bypass, and it works perfectly. Here's some pics.  Without flash  With flash
chill903
That install looks great! After I rechecked everything, I had a loose connection. Once all the wires were connected solidly, the bypass works fine.
zulustypes
For an 04 F150, will it need the pioneer trim and cage kit? or just what is included in the D3 box enough? thanks
chill903
I didn't need the Pioneer trim for my install in a 2006 F-150. I used the free mounting kit from Crutchfield and fit it directly onto the D3. No other trim pieces were needed.
