slicknick
I just got XM with my D3 and when I pull into the garage it goes out completly. As soon as I pull out it's "verystrong" signal I have it mounted on the top of the windshield in the middle. Same for small bridges, overhangs, etc Is it supposed to be this bad? PaisanNYC
Do you understand the concept of satellite signals? If not, return your whole setup now because GPS is the same way. coocho!
slicknick
So this is normal, thanks for the smart A$$ remark...I appreciate it.
MisFit
do you really need to listen to xm in the garage?
BradleyJ
Its not necessarily that bad everywhere. I live in Lincoln, NE and it gets blocked by the high rise buildings downtown. But when I went to KC, MO I got signal everywhere... Even inside of the parking garage! Some larger cities have repeaters set up; or at least that's what I've been told. Yep, here in Montreal, I was pleasantly surprised as my radio came back "on" as I was driving through a tunnel. Depending on your unit, you might have an "antenna aiming mode" and it should give you the signal strength of the satellite signal and the repeater signal. As already mentioned, your satelite signal can be easily blocked by a structure overhead (such as a bridge) or beside (such as a building). However, GPS, seems to be more resilient and will not lose the singal as easily (although, I don't think it will stand up to a garage).
madmanfrommars
Well if you're in the garage with the car running, give it a few minutes and you won't even notice that your radio isn't playing.
