CD-BTB200 & Bluetooth Phone Compatibility Guide

Recommended Posts

Since I couldn't find any compatibility information on which phones work w/ Pioneers BTB200, lets start our own. Let's keep this forum specific to the following and try to avoid unecessary posts. I'd like to see if any service provider has a phone that covers all the BTB200's features. Here's my example:

Service Provider: Verizon Wireless

Phone-SW Version: Samsung SCH-A930 S/W A930.ZC09

Autoconnect: Yes

Basic Function: (Make & Recieve a call, Call History, Preset Memory) Yes, however cannot edit names to preset memory.

Phone Book Transfer: No & does not work with pushing 1 contact at a time either.

Voice Calling: Yes, Seems to work, but phone commands are not ouput through car's speakers

Signal & Battery Strength Indicator: No / No

BT Audio Capable?: Not tested

Other Comments: The phone is simple to use and has a scratch resistant cover. It's very durable, I've also recieved some comments on the pager style appearance. The clock LED is always on, big plus - no need to refresh the phone to see what time it is. As far as bluetooth, it does the main functions along with the most important - autoconnect.

I stopped by Verizon yesterday and briefly tried 3 more phones.

Samsung SCH-U740 & SCH-U620 - both phones worked identically & had the same limitations as the SCH-A930 that's at the top of this post.

I also tried the LG VX8600 and I couldn't even pair it. D3 read invalid device.

This is frustrating not knowing which phones support all features of the BTB200.

Tested a couple more phones today:

Verizon LG VX5300. This seems to be identical to the VX8300 tested above. It would only pair if I put the phone in discovery mode and the Pioneer searches for the phone. This might be the reason why I couldn't get the 8600 above to work.

Also tested a friend's phone briefly:

Service Provider: T-Mobile

Phone-SW Version: Samsung T-809

Autoconnect: Not tested

Basic Function: (Make & Recieve a call, Call History, Preset Memory) Yes

Phone Book Transfer: Yes! Both all contacts at once or 1 at a time.

Voice Calling: Not tested

Signal & Battery Strength Indicator: Signal was intermittent / No

BT Audio Capable?: Not tested

Well it looks like I'll be getting the Verizon LG VX8300 phone today!

I tried my V3i today:

Service Provider: Cingular (AT&T Wireless)

Phone-SW Version: Motorola RAZR V3I

Autoconnect: Yes

Basic Function: (Make & Recieve a call, Call History, Preset Memory)

Phone Book Transfer: YES (It says service not supported)

Voice Calling: YES

Signal & Battery Strength Indicator: Yes / Yes

BT Audio Capable?: Not tested

If anyone with the V3I can figure out how to get phonebook entries to work, I'd love to know how. I removed all picture data from the phonebook (the manual says picture data may cause this to not work) and still could not get the phonebook to transfer, either in bulk or one at a time. :(

Edit: It does work to transfer phone entries one at a time. I needed to leave the transfer screen up on the D3. Still no bulk transfer.

Here is how i do it. I connect the phone. Then I go to the function menu and select phonebook transfer. This will drop the connection. Then I go into the address book on my phone and find the entry I want to send over. I hit the menu button while viewing the contact info and it brings up a bunch of options, one of them should be 'Send Contact' or 'Send' or something similar to that. I choose that, and it brings up the 'Look for Devices' option. I select that, it finds the bluetooth adaptor, and sends it over. The D3 will say completed in the bar on top. When you do the rest of the contacts, you won't have to look for devices each time, it will already be on the list

Cool. I actually didn't have any problems with contacts with photos on mine. Must be another thing that is dependent on the type of phone

whtcrxghst - That worked great. I had to shut off the pictures, and then do what you suggested. The trick seemed to be to leave the phone book transfer screen up on the D3 while I was doing this.
