For the Droid you need to get the Bluetooth File Transfer program in the app Marketplace. Then you need to make sure that you disable the a2dp portion of the bluetooth handshake ie media on the phone

I see one person has the Motorola Q from Verizon Wireless and it seems to work excellent. Another person in this thread looks like they have had some troubles with it. Anyone else out there have a Black Motorola Q that would care to write a review saying it works? Thanks for the reply!

Service Provider: Verizon Wireless

Phone-SW Version: Razr V3m - Flashed to Alltel

Autoconnect: Yes - See note

Basic Function: (Make & Recieve a call, Call History, Preset Memory) Yes

Phone Book Transfer: Yes, but one at a time by pushing from phone.

Voice Calling: Yes, Seems to work, but phone commands are not ouput through car's speakers

Signal & Battery Strength Indicator: Yes / Yes

BT Audio Capable?: Not tested

Other Comments: The Razr works great as a phone but the Bluetooth functionality is severely impaired by Verizon. To wit, there is limited support for OPP which allows phonebook transfer from the phone to the D3. It must be done one at a time by pushing from the phone. Most irritating though is that after pairing the phone with the D3 (and registering) the phone connects to the D3. However, with the phone's BT power on, each time the D3 is started up the phone ask whether to grant permission to pair with the D3 - i.e. no true auto-connect. I decided to flash the phone's firmware from Verizon to Alltel (see howardforums.com for details and process). The user interface on the phone is much improved and most importantly, it now auto connects. :)

Ok, I switched carriers from Sprint to AT&T. I have replaced my Moto Q with a Blackberry 8300 Curve. ALL features seem to work. I have not tested voice dialing.

Service Provider: AT&T Wireless

Phone-SW Version: Blackberry 8300(Curve)/4.2.2.89 & 4.2.2.146

Autoconnect: Yes

Basic Function: (Make & Recieve a call, Call History, Preset Memory) Yes

Phone Book Transfer: Yes, full transfer entire phone book

Voice Calling: Yes, Seems to work, but haven't tested

Signal & Battery Strength Indicator: Yes / Yes

BT Audio Capable?: Yes and can be controlled from D3 directly

The audio quality is outstanding and the functionality is perfect. I did have to turn off encryption. I couldn't be happier. Also, the sound quality of the BT Audio is so much better than on the Q. It sounds as good or better than my iPod.

Hi computerdoc,

Try this - it worked for my cousin VX8600. Go to the Tools, then Bluetooth menu on the phone and make it "visible" using the Options key. Then let the D3 find the phone using Search (Open connection or Direct do not work). When the phone asks if you want to pair to the Pioneer BT unit2, press OK. You are then asked for the four digit (zeros) key. Once 0000 is entered, wait for the D3 to say it has connected. Next on the D3 use Menu - Function & select Register phone. VX8300 or the assigned phone name should appear in the list. Press & hold it until the text changes from gray to white. That's it. Very intuitive - only to the idiot that programmed this thing. Good luck .

For what the unit costs, this BT deserves a class action suit. Most of us have partial use of the features & it amazes that Pioneer does not even bother to say what phones are intended to work with it. This tells me it was not even tested. What a deal!
