subie
Hi. I am in the process of installing a Z2 in my 2007 Element. I've preliminarily installed the unit (made the basic connections, etc, but still troubleshooting). I've tapped into the E-brake but the Z2 is not recognizing that i've done this (in the hardware connections menu it says the E brake isn't hooked up- perhaps I've spliced into the ground instead of the positive E-brake wire- will have to recheck). I am getting sound from AM/FM, but nothing from the DVD or CD. Is the lack of sound related to the problem with the E-brake wire? Thanks everyone!
05Stang-GT
E-brake should have no effect on the cd audio...
Hyperite
Shouldn't be related to your parking brake, as you're allowed to listen to both CDs and DVDs while driving. Are these retail discs? Do they display as playing on the screen? If you have auto-play turned off, they won't play when you insert them, you need to press the play button.
Sevkatia
Usually that happens if you have a factory or an aftermarket power amp and the power antenna turn-on wire (blue) is connected to an amp's power-on wire. To test this change Z2's settings for power antenna to be always on vs. on only in tuner (AM/FM) mode
RPyfrom1
you have your amps on your Power Antenna Wire. Switch that over to the System Remote.
Hyperite
Good call to everybody suggesting amp/ant switch. Didn't cross my mind.
subie
That sounds right. I'll check it tonight when I'm done with work. Thanks everyone!
RPyfrom1
I cant lie i did it awhile back. I felt kinda dumb. But i guess it happens to most people. Good luck
fireblade69
You want to use the Blue/White System remote/amp turn-on lead. The Blue wire is for Power antenna circuits only, hence it only powers your amps when the tuner is on.
wazooz2424
just to add... even with factory amps, you need to use blue/white instead of blue.
fresh
same thing happned to me, if u have a scoche wiring harness connect blue wire from screen to red wire on harness
wazooz2424
same thing happned to me, if u have a scoche wiring harness connect blue wire from screen to red wire on harness that DEFINATELY does not sound right. red is always 12v switched (accessory) in car audio, except when doing rem start/alarms.
