Guest mikey38654
Going through these forums I've heard of using nothing but "Dual Layer DVD" for updates... Do you HAVE to have a Dual Layer DVD? Because I'm not looking forward to purchasing an AVIC-N3 and then having to either go out and buy a burner (when I have a regular CD burner on my laptop and desktop computers) or find someone who has one to download a file or whatever and burn it for me. I would much rather burn a CD-RW if the file is small enough and the unit will let me.
JasonH
You don't need a Dual Layer DVD, but you do need at least a regular DVD-R.
sab0276
Will DVD+R work? -Scott
justiz
A dvd+r will work. I've used dvd+r, dvd+rw, and dvd+r dl without any problems. Many have said that dvd-r's read faster, but in my experience the dvd+r's have been just fine. CD's will NOT work for software upgrades. DVD burners are only $40 online. sab0276
I have a regular DVD+R burner. I'll be looking for a DVD DL burner in the future. ;) -Scott
charliex
i wondered if the DVD+R or just any DVD R discs cause the massive slowdown at boot ( i upgraded to the 60MT) and where it'd clear the pioneer logo in 10 seconds, it can take upto 60 seconds now (usually less) or is that just a function of the new software
Guest
possible, because it is sort of an operating system and when you have a DVD in there it takes time for the player to read the dvds. at least that's how regular windows system works.
SteveD
Excuse my ignorance but how do you fit all the data on a single DVD-R or +r? i was under the impression those were only like 4.7gig discs approx and The West Disc data I have is like 7gigs uncompressed?? Thanks in advance for any info on the subject.
JasonH
You have to delete the POI files for a DVD-R. Most people only use DVD-R's to upload backgrounds.
