[quote name="mwilcher"]Is this wire necessary for operation, if so why, what is it's purpose?
Thank You,

Read previous posts. There are like 20 pages of previous posts, and this exact question is answered on virtually every page.
It's so that if you lose GPS signal for whatever reason (such as a tunnel or whatnot), it still generally knows how far you've travelled based on your vehicle's speed.

I'm going MAD trying to find the right wire...
AVIC N-3

Here what I THINK I know......
I have a question:
Is pin 53 on the Nissan 300ZX ECU the VSS hookup for the AVIC?..

Need to VERIFY the VSS ( speed sence line ) so the AVIC knows how fast I'm going..

I BELIEVE it's ECU pin 53 ( Yellow / Green )

But I'm not 100% sure...
Here's the spec:
Japanese standard
637turns/1km
637rpm on 60km/h driving

Here a difference in the VSS senders
4 Magnets : Toyota,Honda, etc
2 Magnets : Nissan

4 Magnets (4 Pulse Car) : 39.25 cm/pulse
2 Magnets (2 Pulse Car) : 78.50 cm/pulse

So I will either need a shout from another AVIC owner...
Or just live dangerously and try it ( Maybe hook a freq counter up first ).

Thanks
MIke

CAUTION...
There is more than 1 Yellow / Green in the ECU harness.. so you best remove it and count the pins...

PIN 3 OF THE 50 CONNECTOR (C175E) OF THE PCM

The PCM is under the hood - right front.

Can this wire be found somewhere in the interior of the car. I don't want to have to go through the firewall if I don't have too.
THANKS,
John
