ducatiboy
I really like shooting things and explosives, things like that. I couldn't help myself... I built my first air powered potato canon. closeup of the modified sprinkler valve. And a video of it shooting.... I get about 200 yards out of 50 psi in the air chamber. http://www.sminntech.com/spud/AirSpudGun2.wmv Enjoy! Remember, never use cellular core PVC, always use pressure rated stuff and if you blow your hands off not knowing what you are doing, it's your own fault.

ducatiboy
thats awesome! and why does everyone have such a huge yard?? Just lucky I guess. It depends on where you live. My last property was 200 feet x 150 feet, now I have a few acres. It costs more but I like the privacy.
cntrylvr79
Nice rig. Looks a lot like one my buddy's ather make a few years ago. Except the pressure chamber was steel pipe. Now that thing was deadly
ducatiboy
It was my first attempt into air powered. I planned on a short 4 to 6 inch tank and the long barrel with a rifled PVC pipe..... I had an order from "spudtech.com" for a pneumatic dump valve that was 3 inches in diameter. I was planning on ordering stuff from McMaster for that. But this was a whim and bought the stuff at lowes for a air powered. I would also like to put a tazer for the ignition on my combustion one and add a chamber fan as well some day. Maybe make a metered propane set up for it too. We were using oxygen from a torch to vent the chamber one time... That made some pretty loud bangs I'm amazed these things hold up as well as they do to the spud firing.
ducatiboy
Had such a good time going through 25 lbs of potatoes that all my friends asked me for the diagrams to re-create this thing. So I made a PDF for them, figured I would share it if you guys wanted. http://www.sminntech.com/files/Follies0 ... nPlans.pdf Video of me shooting it: http://www.sminntech.com/files/Follies0 ... air_me.wmv Friend shooting it and aiming for the tarp about 100 yards away: http://www.sminntech.com/files/Follies0 ... n_air1.wmv First my air powered one goes off, and to the right my buddy's combustion one goes off.... you hear it http://www.sminntech.com/files/Follies0 ... ustion.wmv My buddy's combustion one, it runs on starting fluid and a bbq igniter http://www.sminntech.com/files/Follies0 ... stion1.wmv Finally I filled the air powered one with water (about a foot at the bottom of the barrel) and made the worlds largest super soaker (ok, there is probably a larger one, but it's still cool). http://www.sminntech.com/files/Follies0 ... soaker.wmv Hope you all enjoy, and no more than 80 psi if you decide to make one. Maybe this is something sminntech should start selling.
jimmy303
I put one together while working for a corporate shop(not BB or CC, but SA) using a 6" elbow-Y union, a 36" long piece of 2" pvc (filed on the end to cut the spud upon entering), a couple of screw-on access caps, a reducer or two, and an old barbeque grill igniter. By using Rave #4 hair spray (nicknamed 1000-yard blue), I was able to severely disturb Ralph Buick's lunch hour. And scare the bejeezus out of some Kinko's nerds, as well. Big fun. If you live in S. Fla., you know the corner I'm talking about. And, if you worked at Ralph Buick in 1997, - I'm sorry. If you worked at Kinko's - not so much. Oh, and sorry about the garage door to Audio Advisors - that one wasn't me.
