GEX-P910xmt audio hissing and in slow motion

Recommended Posts

I bought a referb. 910xmt that I hooked up to a Z1
Even with full satellite reception I would get low audio level, a loud continous hissing sound and the audio sound like it was in slow motion.

I ran it for about 2 hours and it did not go away.
Later I discovered that if I would squeeze the center of the tuner, I would go back to normal as long as I had pressure on it.
Also XM was unable to activate it the 3 times I called.

I swapped in my old 900xm tuner and that worked perfectly

Anyone else experience this?

Is that the $200 unit with NavTraffic? If so, did you hook up the IP Bus cable AND the switched power line? (yellow I think) If you use the IP Bus, you do NOT hook up the switched power cable. They say issues can develop...but they don't say what those issues are.

Yea the unit is the NavTraffic model.
And the yellow 12v switched was not hooked up.
I actually removed the pin from the connector and yanked the yellow wired completely.

I bought the unit on ebay for $125 buy it now.
And I really have to give them props, I called and explained what was going on. They said to just send it back, no questions. When they found out I lived 20 minutes away I was able to drive it down to their warehouse. I was in and out in a half hour.

They swaped out the unit for me, let me hook it up in their parking lot and I had it activated 100% before I even left.

I think there was a defective solder joint, or broken trace on the board.
My guess is something going thru the audio processing, since the pitch was affected.
