shoman94
No need to be free but 250 bucks is ridiculous. And once a year is a bit archaic... IMO anyways.
Icculus
Did anyone else get the e-mail from pioneer about the new navi disc for D1/D2 costing 250.00.... I thought they where free!!! why would they be free? does Microsoft offer free upgrades to their newest OS when its released? Is there a software change somewhere on those discs? Or is it just updated maps? If it's the first then you are right (like moving from xp to Vista), if it's the latter then yes, Microsoft does offer updates to their product (service packs and other updates). stathound
I just burned the new 70MTP discs they work like a charm. So far the only problem I wanted them to solve has been solved, I haven't driven around to check it out since I installed it. I downloaded it through torrents.. http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3755346/Pioneer_Avic_Navigation_CNDV-70MTP_East_2007 http://thepiratebay.org/tor/3755452/Pioneer_Avic_Navigation_CNDV-70MTP_West_2007

It was a map problem, where I live they had a street listed as a route that it wasn't, but now it's fixed.. Happy days are here again!
jimmyjam
as soon as i got that email I went to thepiratebay.org and started downloading. pioneer needs to get their heads out of their asses, if the price was reasonable I would buy it legitimately;$250 is completely ridiculous. as a comparison, MS Streets & Trips is $40...... Aconite
Did anyone else get the e-mail from pioneer about the new navi disc for D1/D2 costing 250.00.... I thought they where free!!! why would they be free? does Microsoft offer free upgrades to their newest OS when its released? $250US is unreasonable. When I had a Garmin Quest, my first upgrade was free and the second upgrade was under $100 Canadian. Not to mention any firmware bug fixes and additional firmware upgrades or new features were free. They offer free updates for the product life cycle ~ 5 years when a new products comes out (XP-Vista) they will still offer free updates for the previous version untill the cycle is over
