Android Auto issues on 2015 Generation NEX

Recommended Posts

Anybody get the new NEX stereos with Android Auto support and got it working?

Received my unit today and threw all kinds of Android 5.0 devices to it and cannot get it to work.

I've tried Nexus 5 (x2),  Samsung S5, Moto X 2nd Gen, and HTC One M7.

All of them feel like it tries to connect as it does a quick flash on the phone but on the stereo nothing happens.

Only the Samsung S5 I can see Android Auto icon appear for a split second and then disappears.

Bluetooth connection was established to see if that will help, it did not.

Smartphone setup is switched to Android Auto already.

Plugs in a Iphone and Carplay just pops right up and starts working , Well played Apple well played.

What gives?

Been messing with this for almost two hours now.

 *sighhhhh

wanted to chime in again in case someone else run into same issue I am this week or next.

This is what Pioneer rep replied back to me:

"We were informed that Google has delayed the launch of Android Auto and it

will not be available for a week or two.  Android Market will automatically
send out an update to all Android Phones using Lollipop 5.0 as soon as it
is released by Google."

So now the waiting game

AndroidAuto is supposed to be released today by Google I heard by Pioneer directly.

I just downloaded it on my phone, but all it does is give you the first page with 1 setting.

I then checked to see if my phone was compatible. It says only with phones running 5.0 Lollipop or above.

My phone does have Lollipop. What is up with that?

Not working on my end either. Phones compatible, using 8100nex. On the phone, it looks like it tries to load, then crashes

I am, however going from USB 2 port to an adapter that goes to the cars usb port. This may be the issue. Tomorrow, I am pulling the unit out and plugging in straight from a normal USB cable.

Is anyone using Auto successfully? If so, how are you plugging into the USB2 port? Through pioneer's expensive extension or what?

Connected using a USB extension on USB2,

I did have some trouble with my original usb to micro not working,

I figured it out by noticing that the phone would charge but not recognize it was connected to usb device..

Change cable, restarted phone, and Auto popped up.

One issue:   I cant seem to get the voice button on top right corner to work?
