likeawind Posted February 3, 2016 Report Share Posted February 3, 2016 Hi I just got a replacement from pioneer after waiting almost an year, long story short they sent me an Nex-6100 and I would like to update maps on it. I have the following questions please. Does the usb stick has to be empty? Would my nex automatically recon usb? What do I need to do after usb is prepared? Multitask Posted February 4, 2016 Report Share Posted February 4, 2016 Go to www.naviextras.com and sign up. THe USB stick can't have anything on it. follow the instructions on the web site on how to set the stick up. Do HAVE to have windows to do this, a Mac will not work. Once you do that (basicly you have the 6100 add a folder with files in it to it so the website knows what to do with it) the web site will do the update to the USB stick, and the you use that to update your 6100. erlee013 Posted February 9, 2016 Report Share Posted February 9, 2016 So I updated my 8000nex to the latest firmware 1.11 and then I tried to update the maps to 2015Q2 and it says update package invalid...So does the latest firmware update the maps? Multitask Posted February 9, 2016 Report Share Posted February 9, 2016 Updating the firmware doesn't update maps, they are not included... you have to do it via www.naviextras.com and it's only free for about 1 month after your Nav gets a signal.... Multitask Posted February 9, 2016 Report Share Posted February 9, 2016 I don't think it actually updates the internal maps in the HU, although I guess it would be nice if it actually does... I think the AvicSync is mostly for setting something on your phone and having it send it to the HU... like routes, or Gas Prices... but it's only good for up to 1 year till you have to pay for it...
