AVIC F20BT stuck in backup camera view

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I've been searching the forums for a couple of days now and I can't seem to find a solution to my problem.

I've got a Pioneer AVIC F20BT navi and it was working just fine until I got the bright idea to mess up the settings. The problem appeared when I switched the polarity of the backup camera from the settings menu. After I turned off the car and then back on, the screen just goes to the backup camera view (I don't have a backup camera on the car), and it displays the message "CAUTION! THE IMAGE MAY APPEAR REVERSED", and nothing else works, tried pushing all the buttons. The audio from the cd was still playing and I could switch between the music files and change the volume.

After searching the forum, I found out about the TEST MODE (hold Home, then press R/L, R/L, R/L), and went on to clear the user data. After rebooting, nothing changed.

The thing is, the navi goes directly to the backup camera view when starting, it doesn't even display the splash screen.

Any advice on what should I do?? This is driving me nuts and I was kinda hopping I can avoid disconnecting the car's battery.

Thanks!

I am having the same stupid problem, I was installing a back up camera and it was working just fine, and then I fiddled with the settings and here I am...ugh. I've tried unplugging the truck battery even, for like five minutes, but it still comes up in the back up lines mode with no picture, and it won't budge. Music plays, but that's about it. Thoughts?

Check System Settings/Back Camera settings. If you don't have a camera installed, turn Camera Off. Otherwise - try toggling to the opposite to whatever Polarity setting isn't working for you. Normally, I'd expect it to be set to Battery (+12v). It all depends on how your reverse sensor is wired.

If none of this works, sorry - I can't help.

Thanks, but my problem lies with it going directly to back up lines with no video, and won't budge out of that mode. I can't get to settings! Yikes! Guess I will get out a bigger hammer now... :?

I'm assuming this doesn't change when you are in reverse. Before using a hammer - I still think it is the polarity sense set wrong.  I'd disconnect the B/U wire from wherever it is connected. Make sure it isn't grounded. Then try it. If that doesn't work, connect it to +12v. Is it possible the B/U wire is always grounded, or always +12v regardless of the actual gear?
