talkin73
My OEM unit shows rear camera input almost instantly on turning on car and immediately into reverse to exit garage. On the 4100... how quickly does rear camera input appear if you turn on car, then immediately into reverse? Thanks.
King lo
I have the older 6000 model but they arent much different from the new ones. The reverse camera seems to work independant of the software. The camera comes up near instantly and will also come up before the system has time to boot.
MrEos
I have the 4100 and concur with King lo. Under the scenario you describe, the camera comes up quicker than the head-unit generated guidelines. Once the head unit is fully booted, the guidelines come up slightly quicker than the camera. If you start your car, then take the time to fasten your seat belt before shifting into reverse, the camera image will be there.
tickerguy
Yeah, it comes up pretty fast on the 4000 -- long before the unit has booted. Then it glitches and reappears once the boot has completed. Maybe 1-2 seconds from power-on?

MrEos, I'm looking at getting the 4100 as well. Are you using the Pioneer backup camera with your 4100 or your OEM backup camera?
MrEos
My car didn't have OEM camera. The installer used an AAMP camera. Model number isn't on my invoice.

IntrusDave
Same with the 8000. The camera comes on almost instantly, and then will flash off and back on with the "Image may be reversed" once the unit boots.
mythbai
I don't concur though. I have 6000, the camera come on instantly when you start the car, but it will turn into black for 2-6 seconds and back on with stamped message. It's not instant, but fast enough for most cases.
